Last night Charlie and I got to have dinner ashore with friends. My good friend, David Martz, had introduced me to his sister, Nancy, last winter. Nancy and her husband Steve Perrott were planning to cruise northern Labrador this summer. We talked about possibly meeting up. Last night it happened. Their 57-foot sloop, Ara, sailed into Battle Harbour at about 1730 last evening. Also aboard was Nancy's cousin, Chris.
Steve stayed aboard to deal with boat items. However, Nancy and Chris joined us for a dinner and sailing conversation. This morning we shared coffee, orange juice, fresh made bread and preserves aboard Ara. Ara is a handsome grey Westerly and perfect for distance cruising.
Lucky us, Nancy just stopped by with a jar of her homemade preserves and fresh baked bread wrapped in a white tea towel with blue fish prints! What a treat. Our thanks to the crew of Ara and a happy visit in Labrador.
