Annual Book Sale

The Book Sale is on as planned, rain or shine!


Join us for the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library's 2025 Annual Book Sale. The Book Sale is full of nearly-new or gently used books, movies, and music resources for adults and children. Come for your summer reading, treasure hunting, and for the fun. The proceeds from the Friends book sales fund a wide variety of programs at the Library, museum passes, large print books and audiovisual materials, and staff professional development.


Please note that the Friends will resume taking book donations on June 22.

Adult Programs

Twenty Classic Feature Animations and Why They Are Good for You: A Talk by Randall Warniers

Tuesday, June 17, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Goodwin Forum, Main Library

This free in-person talk with our Virtual Films at Fowler host Randal Warniers will discuss the history of animation and describe twenty significant feature animations that helped drive the technology and appeal of animation forward. A print copy of the summary of the twenty selected films (plus extra added attractions) will be given to attendees for future reference. Pollinator Week: Native Seedling Transplant

How did your native plants grow in your winter seed sow milk jugs? Drop by anytime during the session to separate ours into plantable clumps. Bring your jugs. Trade, compare, and share. No registration required.

Silent Spring II: The Dangers Of Yard Pesticides

Wednesday, June 18, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Goodwin Forum, Main Library

This event's presenter Wilson Kerr will discuss the dangers of pesticides with the hope of raising awareness and informing our community. He will also cover some practical, effective non-toxic alternatives. Wilson Kerr is the Time Outdoors columnist for our local newspaper The Concord Bridge and is an amateur naturalist and avid outdoorsman. [Register for Hidden Risks of Yard Pesticides]

Plant for Pollinators at Fowler with Lady Fern Farm (All Ages)

Friday, June 20, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Meeting Room, Fowler Branch

Thanks to a grant from the Garden Club of Concord and support from the Concord Free Public Library Corporation, we are transforming part of our front yard into a demonstration of native plant garden. Nikki of Lady Fern Farm has designed our garden, and she will teach participants ways to move from lawn to a diverse, self-sustaining ecosytem without breaking your back or your bank. We recommend work gloves and clothes that can withstand some dirt. Words Move Theater Company "Mixed Messages"

Thursday, June 26, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Goodwin Forum, Main Library

Join WordsMove Theater for "Mixed Messages", Five Short Humorous Plays by Jack Neary. Jack Neary is a Massachusetts playwright who has written, acted and directed plays throughout the U.S.A. and Canada. His plays features wry, humorous commentaries on everyday life as well as life in the theater world. Make-it! Club: Rainbow Edition

Free Play at Fowler (Ages 5 & under)

Monday, June 16, 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.

Backyard, Fowler Branch

Drop by the Fowler backyard weekly for a range of activities, including a water table and arts and crafts. Stay for 15 minutes or for the full 45 minutes. We will have different stations, allowing for child-guided play and socializing. No registration required.

Fowler Storytime (Ages 5 & under)

Tuesday, June 17, 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. & 11:00 - 11:45 a.m.

Join us at Fowler for storytime - We will share stories, songs and rhymes and do a simple hands-on activity. No registration required.
