It's Holiday Open House Time in Brookside!!

Thursday, November 12 - Sunday, November 15

Starting Thursday, November 12th through Sunday November 15th, stroll through the historic Brookside shops, enjoy the holiday lights, and do some holiday shopping.

The Holiday Season Opener is a free, family-friendly event with holiday sales, pop-up events, food and drink specials, music and giveaways throughout the businesses in Brookside. Of course masks will be required in all businesses along with respectful, safe distancing so all can enjoy this celebration of our neighborhood of small businesses.

From 5:30 to 6:30 Thursday evening, enjoy live music

It's a Party at World's Window --

The trees are decorated. The wreaths are hung. Lights sparkle and we're ready for a party. Our store is filled with new winter fashions, our nativity display, holiday decor and gifts for everyone on your list. More to enjoy: a very special holiday drawing, Goodie bags, and free festive gift wrap. It's a party!

What will you wear? Dressing up or staying casual for the holidays? We can help you do both with comfort and style, including lovely silk jackets from Cocoon House as well as cozy sweaters and classic tunics.

Count the days! Our advent calendars are selling quickly. Hurry in so you're ready for December 1st and the countdown. We also love the little "tree" curio shelf that is perfect for displaying tiny nativities (which we have, of course) and other small collectibles.

Gather ornaments for your tree and for gifts! Our wall and tree are filled with ornaments from around the world. You'll find angels and snow people, Dr. Fauci and Mr. Rogers, birds and animals of all kinds, Grandpa and Grandma Yeti, campers and taco trucks.

Find that one special ornament to give to a friend. The dyed, fire-etched and painted gourds from Peru are always a special addition to holiday trees. We're enchanted with the Santas this year, but there aren't very many, so hurry in!

Choose a nativity! The weather is going to be perfect for standing outside and gazing at over 150 nativities. Which one catches your eye? The one made with pumpkin seeds? The music box nativity carved out of Olive Wood? A nativity puzzle box? You choose and we'll gather them up for you.

Create a snow storm! There won't be any snow in Kansas City for our Open House, but we can create some with a shake of our snow globes. Choose Santa, "dancing" dreidels, chickadees or cardinals, skiers in the snow, or a peaceful Buddha.

Register to Win!! With any purchase, register for a chance to win this lovely artisan-made Tree of Life luminary. Enjoy the glow of a flickering candle or a string of lights placed inside. This luminary is handcrafted in a family workshop in the community of San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua.

The sun is glorious on this first day of our 4-day Brookside Holiday Season Opener. It's a perfect early winter day to stroll the streets in Brookside and pop in and out of all the wonderful stores. Even the 6:00 pm tree lighting should be a comfortable 55 degrees. What a change from many years when we've been huddled and freezing!! Even though there will be no choirs this year and stores won't be serving open plates of food and glasses of wine, the holiday spirit will be sparkling in Brookside. I hope that we will get to welcome many of you over the next 4 days.

PLEASE NOTE that starting this next week, our store will be open 7 days a week. We anticipate being busy and want us all to be safe in our holiday shopping together. Morning hours tend to be very quiet, so are an excellent time to shop. We will continue to require masks in all areas of our store, including dressing rooms, and we continue to re-steam clothing that has been tried on. By being ever aware of courteous and safe distancing, we can celebrate the season together.

ALSO, we know from many of our small companies that will will not be able to re-order and re-stock many products. Due to workshops still being closed down routinely due to COVID and limited shipments coming from many countries, we may run out of many items. We encourage you to shop early.
