Every April, we recognize Fair Housing Month—a time to reflect on the importance of equal access to housing and reaffirm our commitment to upholding fair housing principles in every real estate transaction.
The History of Fair Housing
Fair Housing Month commemorates the passing of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, a landmark law that prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. This legislation was a critical step toward ensuring that every individual and family has the opportunity to live in a home and community of their choice—free from discrimination.
