Each morning during camp week, I swung open the preschool hallway double doors and cheerfully shouted out, “Merry Christmas!”—and like clockwork, our families laughed and smiled, “Oh, Ms. Laura!”
This summer marked a special first for Circle of Friends: our very own Christmas in July summer camp. We welcomed returning students, including a few heading off to kindergarten, as well as approximately 25 new children who are registered to start in the fall. Some of these new little ones brought their parents along for extra reassurance on their very first school experience. We were also blessed to have several of CPC's wonderful Sunday school nursery helpers pitch in during the week.
Throughout camp, we explored the Five Days of Christmas, each day with its own theme. We began with the Angel: “God sent the angel Gabriel.” – Luke 1:26. Campers painted beautiful wooden angel ornaments and hung them on our Christmas trees beside our cozy Circle of Friends “fireplace.” We wrapped up the week with Baby Jesus: “A Savior has been born to you.” – Luke 2:11. On this final day, campers created “Jesus Loves Me” picture frames and crafted nativity jars, hands down the most loved project of the week!
Throughout the week, we laughed, sang, danced, made fun and creative Christmas crafts and ornaments, shared silly Christmas snacks, played festive games, saw old friends, made new ones, and simply enjoyed being together. It was such a joyful time that we’ve already decided...we’ll be bringing back summer camp again next year!
Thank you for a week full of joy and memories. Merry Christmas in July!
