Webinar Wednesday! Learn how to Develop your Employees and Others as Brand Ambassadors!
FREE live webinar with Linda Pophal

In response to the impact Covid-19 has had on our local businesses, entrepreneurs, independent contractors and funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, small business owners and managers are invited to participate in a FREE series of live webinars presented by Linda Pophal of Strategic Communications, LLC.

Hosted by the Western Dairyland Business Center and the Western Wisconsin Women's Business Center, this series of communication, technology and marketing topics will take place on Wednesdays,10:30-11:30am. Per our generous funders, tuition is waived. However, space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Newsletters/e-letters, blogs, groups/chatrooms, email blasts videos, podcasts and other tools can be a great way to stay in front of customers and other groups, but are they worth the time/effort involved to do it right? A look at the pros/cons of various communication tools, along with best practice tips for using them effectively.

COVID-19 has shown us that it is possible for employees to work remotely across a variety of jobs. That opens up the potential for small businesses to cast a wider net when filling positions, whether with employees or contractors. Best practices in finding, hiring and onboarding remote workers.

Learn how even small businesses can take advantage of opportunities to be covered by local, regional and even national media to improve awareness, gain exposure, or build thought leadership. This webinar takes a look at what the media and reporters are looking for along with the do’s and don’ts when approaching the media.

Karner Blue Garden Club
The Karner Blue Garden Club formed in 1995 with a strong desire to enhance the beauty of the Black River Falls area. Currently the club boasts 42 members, many of which are Master Gardeners. The Club generously contributes hundreds of hours each year to maintain 50 flower beds throughout the community along with more than 70 hanging baskets placed along Main and adjacent streets. The KGBC is supported through membership, generous benefactors, Black River Falls City Recreation Department, volunteer support from the community, and various local organizations.

As the 25th year of the KBGC starts, more volunteers are greatly needed as many of the regular members are retiring, moving away, or just physically unable to contribute to the upkeep of the many flowerbeds. If people can donate even an hour a year of your time to help the Club, it would be deeply appreciated. If students need credit through school for community service, please consider helping the Club because many hands make light work. In this time of the pandemic, this would be a great opportunity to get outside in the fresh air, meet new people, and learn something new.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from 6:30-7:30 pm and are held April through October with a Christmas party in December. Each meeting has a short educational program, with occasional field trips, which makes the Club a wonderful learning activity for novice and Master Gardeners alike. The next meeting dates are Sept. 10 at 6:30 at the Veterans Park shelter, and Oct. 8 at 4:00 at the shelter where the topic will be shrub pruning and the meeting will involve some hands-on work.

For more information about the KBGC, membership, and volunteer opportunities, contact the current president, Carol Prindle, at 715-896-6018. Please consider joining the Club so the beautification of Black River Falls area can continue.
