Dear Diocese of Florida,
With great joy, we share the news that The Episcopal Church has given the required consents to the election of the Reverend Randy Alexander as the ninth Bishop of Florida.
The standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction across The Episcopal Church have given the required majority of consents, per Canon III.11.3, affirming the election held by our diocese on September 11, 2026.
We give thanks for this important milestone and look with hope and excitement toward the beginning of Bishop-Elect Randy's ministry among us.
Please mark your calendars for Bishop-Elect Randy's ordination as bishop on Saturday, February 6, 2027. We will share more details about the service and related events in the weeks ahead.
We are grateful for the prayers, hope, and faithful participation that have carried our diocese through this season of discernment and transition. As the ordination approaches, we invite you to continue praying for Bishop-Elect Randy and his family, for the people of Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill in Alexandria, Virginia as they prepare for this transition, and for all of us as we look forward to a new chapter together.
As Bishop-Elect Randy finishes out the year serving at Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill, we ask that you send any relevant requests to bishop@diocesefl.org. The inbox will be monitored by diocesan staff until Bishop-Elect Randy's start date.
Read Bishop-Elect Randy's election announcement, letter to the diocese, and more at DioceseFL.org/Bishop-Election. Additional information on opportunities to support the transition and consecration will be shared soon.
With gratitude and hope,
The Standing Committee
The Rev. Bob Goolsby, President
J. Byron Greene
The Rev. Lisa Meirow
