Next Wave Interns Make a Lasting Impact

Today marks the conclusion of WSSC Water's 2026 Next Wave Internship Program, with 41 college students and 13 high school students wrapping up a summer of hands-on learning and real-world experience.

Working across the organization, interns gained experience in engineering, finance, cybersecurity, customer service, operations and more, supporting the critical work that keeps our water and wastewater systems running every day.

College interns also teamed up on two projects focused on the future of WSSC Water. They explored opportunities for a venture capital program and developed a vision for using digital twin technology. The teams presented their recommendations to WSSC Water leadership, showcasing their creativity and fresh perspectives.

Know a student who might be interested in next year's internship program? Internship opportunities are posted each January on our Careers page and remain open until filled.

Recent Rain Helps, but Drought Watch Continues

Although our region has received some welcome rainfall, the drought watch remains in effect. You can help conserve water by practicing Wise Water Use, simple steps that save both water and money.
