ALLIANCE CHAPTER LEADERS MEET IN ORLANDO
|
|
More than 70 leaders of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance recently met in Orlando for leadership and chapter development training. The two-day event, led by Alliance President Dave Gervase, allowed Alliance chapter leaders to learn from each other how to build a volunteer staff, generate local funding and what business development and advocacy initiatives are important to members. With greater access to in-person meetings, Alliance chapter leaders are now hard at work in creating March and Q2 local events.

ANNUAL GALLUP SURVEY SHOWS RISING LGBTQ+ NUMBERS TO 7.1% OF ALL U.S. ADULTS
Gallup recently released its annual poll that shared that the number of U.S. adults identifying as other than straight has nearly doubled in the last 10 years. Just a few months after the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) shared that the LGBTQ+ community has grown to 8% of all U.S. adults, Gallup found similar numbers – 7.1% of U.S. adults report they are part of our community! It has grown from 3.5% in 2012, 4.5% in 2017 and 5.6% in 2020.
This is occurring because society, especially younger generations, are more accepting, which allows many more to live authentically as who they are. Gallup reported that 20% of ALL Gen Z reports as being part of the LGBTQ+ community. This chart showcases our growing numbers and also shows the change in beliefs over time. Older Americans were definitely not as welcoming, thus the lower numbers:
