When many people hear the word philanthropy, they often think of large financial gifts from donors. But true philanthropy is much broader—it’s about people of all ages, backgrounds, and means coming together to give what they can to strengthen a cause they believe in. At its heart, philanthropy simply means “love of humankind,” and that’s something each of us can practice every day.
At Parc Center for Disabilities, we are working to build a culture of philanthropy where everyone—donors, volunteers, staff, families, and community partners—feels they have a role to play. This culture is about more than dollars. It’s about sharing time, talents, connections, and advocacy alongside financial contributions.
For example, a volunteer may give a few hours each week mentoring children in our programs. Another supporter may be sharing their love of art within our art program. Others may be passionate about spreading the word—encouraging friends to tour Parc’s programs and share the stories on social media. And when staff members speak proudly about the Parc mission to neighbors and family, they, too, are nurturing a spirit of philanthropy. Each of these contributions is essential.
Together, these many forms of giving build something powerful: a sustainable foundation that keeps our mission thriving. Whether you’re making a gift at any level, volunteering, introducing us to a friend, or simply wearing your Parc shirt with pride, you are part of this culture of philanthropy.
We invite you to reflect on what philanthropy means to you. How might you share your love of humankind this season? Every act of generosity—big or small—makes a lasting difference. Together, our philanthropic spirit is about extending ourselves to those supported by Parc.
