Give to the Pentecost Offering

Your contribution to the Pentecost Offering, one of the special offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), supports ministries with children at risk, youth, and young adults. This offering helps fund the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, the Young Adult Volunteer program, and other projects. A portion of the offering receipts go to a ministry of the congregation's choice.

To donate to the Pentecost Offering (in addition to your regular CHPC offering), write "Pentecost Offering" on the memo line of a separate check or place money in a Pentecost Offering envelope. Place your check or envelope in the offering plate. Or donate via the CHPC website, clicking on Pentecost Offering as the recipient. Thank you for giving generously!

Pickup Truck and Trailer Needed!

The church has been graciously given a new-to-us refrigerator, and we need help transporting it to the church. Please contact Aaron Baer at 502-595-8812 to help.

18 Guns to Become Garden Tools

A steady stream of vehicles pulled up to the chop saw June 8, as people came to get rid of their unwanted guns. The safe-disposal opportunity offered by Guns to Gardens Louisville Sunday brought in 18 guns, including 2 assault weapons. Wood and metal pieces from the guns will be transformed into gardening tools, art, jewelry, and household items by local blacksmith Craig Kaviar and woodworker Matthew Karr.

Guns to Gardens Louisville is grateful to all who made this event a success by praying, volunteering, and bringing unwanted weapons. Thank you for helping “turn swords into plowshares"!

Nursery Volunteers Needed

The nursery is clean and fully stocked. Some visitors with young children have expressed interest in using the nursery. The NOW Committee would like for the nursery to be available for babies and children up to age 5 who need it. Just as Jesus welcomed the children, we want all the little ones in our midst to feel loved and welcomed in our congregation.

To make this happen, we need volunteers who are willing to staff the nursery as needed (2 adults each Sunday). If you are interested in helping in this way, please contact the church office so that you can get the necessary background check.

Also needed is a volunteer to serve as Nursery Coordinator. This person will prepare a calendar of nursery volunteers, organize volunteer training as needed, and update and keep on hand sign-in sheets and information forms for parents and nursery workers. If you are interested in taking on this important ministry, please contact the church office and/or Soni Castleberry, at soni.castleberry@gmail.com or (502) 417-6481.

Prayer and Action for Middle East

Feel free to join us Thursdays on Zoom, in-person, or both. This group has enabled such support for one another as we all struggle to cope with the tragedies in the Middle East and the on and off cease fires and prisoner releases. We would be grateful to have others join us. Email Soni at soni.castleberry@gmail.com to get the Zoom link and be added to the group email list for regular communication.

Did You Know? About Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

The world is changing as poverty, war, and suffering reach historic levels. Domestically, great divisions remain across all aspects of life and government. This is a critical time for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as it seeks to discern God’s will for the future. The 225th General Assembly of the PC(USA) took steps in 2022 to help guide the denomination on a path forward. A Unification Commission consisting of pastors, presbytery leaders, and young adult advisory delegates was appointed to bring together the Presbyterian Mission Agency and the Office of the General Assembly as a unified agency.

The new Interim Unified Agency is dedicated to pursuing mission and ministry priorities. Led by the Rev. Jihyun Oh, Executive Director and Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, the new agency works to support mid councils, leader development, unifying ministry work, reparative justice, life of the communion, and strategic partnerships.
