On June 9, 2026, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy will activate a PMP Gateway feature called Provider Authorization that MAY IMPACT YOUR OARRS ACCESS.
What This Means for You:
Provider authorization will automatically validate your credentials in real-time. Starting June 9th, you may be unable to access OARRS (Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System) through your electronic medical records (EMR) or pharmacy software unless you have:
-
An active OARRS account -AND-
- An accurate and current:
o State license number
o DEA number (if applicable per role)
o NPI number (if applicable per role)
NOTE: This is especially critical if you have never registered for an OARRS account and have always relied on your integrated EMR system for access.
What You Should Do:
Step 1: Log in to review your OARRS account at https://ohio.pmpaware.net/login
Step 2: Verify the following information is current and accurate:
- You have an active OARRS account registered
*IMPORTANT: Do NOT create a new account – update your existing account instead*
- Your role matches your current state licensure
- Your license number, DEA, and NPI are accurate
- Your name matches what is registered with your licensing board and DEA (if applicable)
Don't have an OARRS account yet? Register at:

What Happens If You Don't Act?
After June 9, 2026, if you do not have an active OARRS user account or if the account information is missing or inaccurate, you will lose access to OARRS. You will be required to visit the OARRS website at https://www.pharmacy.ohio.gov/Oarrs/Default to register for an account, or contact us if you need assistance updating your existing account. Please note that after June 9th, requests for assistance may take longer than normal.
Remember: Each user is personally responsible for meeting their licensing board's requirements for when and how often to check OARRS. Questions about OARRS requirements should be directed to your licensing board.

Medical Residents with Training Certificate (DO, MD, DPM, DDS):
When registering for an OARRS account, select the role "Medical Resident with Prescriptive Authority." This role does not require an individual DEA number.
Important Reminder for Medical Residents Completing Their Residency and Pharmacy Interns:
As we enter graduation season, many practitioners are transitioning their credentials, such as medical residents moving from training certificates to full medical licenses, and pharmacy interns obtaining their PharmD degree and pharmacist license. It's important to update your OARRS account as soon as possible to reflect your new license number and active credentials. Contact the OARRS support team for assistance updating your credentials and role to ensure minimal disruption to your OARRS access.
