ARTALE FOOD & WINE TRIP TO SPAIN
October 3rd -11th 2024
Ralph Velasco is a Rockford resident who has been organizing and leading tours around the world for more than 15 years (and his trips are all 5-star rated). He has a more than 50 percent client repeat rate and group sizes range from just 6 - 10 participants maximum.
Rest assured that the main focus of these incredible trips is the food, wine, spirits, and other historical and natural highlights of each of the places he visits, as is meeting the locals and being immersed in the authentic culture.
Accommodations are in unique properties such as a private 11th-century castle in France's Dordogne; a former private family villa in the Spanish hilltown of Laguardia in the Rioja region; and/or a gorgeous wine estate in the Douro Valley or boutique hotel in the center of Porto, Portugal.

We began Mother-in-Law’s with a mission to share a delicious, authentic, handcrafted small batch kimchi using the finest natural ingredients. As an avid food and wine lover, founder, Lauryn Chun was inspired by the beauty of Korea's handcrafted tradition of kimchi as a cherished food that belongs in the ranks of fine fermented foods like wine, cheese and beer traditions.
Mother-in-Law's Kimchi House Napa Cabbage Kimchi
SALE $8.99 Reg. $9.99
Our signature kimchi, with its unmistakable long strips of napa cabbage, is considered a Geotjori style kimchi and carries a long historical significance in Korea. It is often made during Kimjang (fall harvest kimchi making) and eaten fresh to celebrate. Our seasoning is a saucy, traditional recipe, using fish sauce and beef bone broth, combined with long strips of napa cabbage and a slow-fermentation process which results in a depth of rich flavors. Pro tip: Cutting the strips into bite size pieces at the table upon eating, releases the best taste and texture.
Mother-in-Law's Kimchi Daikon Radish
SALE $8.99 Reg. $9.99
Thought kimchi was synonymous with cabbage? Daikon radish is a traditional favorite prized for its digestive properties. Muu Kimchi comes out of a long fermentation pleasantly crunchy and juicy with an accentuated spicy sweetness. Vegan Recipe made without fish sauce and bone broth. Ingredients: Daikon radish, red chile pepper, yellow onion, scallion, chives, salt, raw sugar, garlic.

If you've asked us about Irish whiskey, we have probably talked your ear off about Waterford. Without a doubt some of the best Irish whiskey we have ever tasted, Waterford is obsessed with the farming and quality of the barley they use to distill their whiskeys. While a lot of companies talk about these types of practices, Waterford takes it to the next level and the end product is a testament to their mission.
Waterford The Cuvee Irish Single Malt Whiskey
Sale $89.99 Reg. $99.99
We rigorously apply the ancient terroir methodology to today’s verdant landscape of Ireland, home of the world’s finest barley. Now for the first time in single malt whisky – unashamedly inspired by the legendary châteaux of France – we reach the apogee of this radical philosophy.
Our distillery, the technological marvel we call the Facilitator, enables us to create elite whisky – farm by farm, terroir by terroir. State-of-the-art equipment marries with ancient knowledge, locally grown Irish barley with extended fermentations, unhurried distillation & an array of exceptional oak. It has provided a unique library of Single Farm Origins – each expressing its own identity, its own voice.
This unprecedented spectrum of flavours must now reach its crescendo: we have celebrated & explored the singles; now we produce our more immersive concept album. For layered together in this cerebral fusion of flavours, these component Waterford Whiskies come together, culminating in our ultimate experience: textured, complex & compelling.
The Cuvée, a synthesis of Single Farm Origins, an enigmatic gestalt, a milestone in our journey. The definitive Waterford Whisky. Our LodeStar.
Waterford Argot Cuvee Irish Single Malt Whiskey
Sale $62.99 Reg. $69.99
Argot, a patois, the underground language of bohemians & renegades. An idiom for the underworld, a secret tongue reserved for only those in the know. A vibrant, enthusiastic, devil-may-care cuvée, bringing together several Single Farm Origins layered for beguiling complexity — & with a mere Will o’ the Wisp of Irish peat — Cuvée: Argot is our wild child.
Inspired by Bordeaux’s greatest chateaux, the Cuvée Concept is the apogee of our radical, novel philosophy. By harvesting, distilling and maturing Irish barley farm by farm — each expressing its own distinct terroir-derived flavour profile — an unprecedented flavour library is achieved. By drawing on these building blocks, Head Distiller Ned Gahan can bring them together, layer by layer, to create the ultimate in complexity — where the whole is greater than simply the sum of the parts.
Cuvée: Argot is the exuberant little brother to the distillery’s flagship bottling The Cuvée. Inspired by Bordeaux once again, if The Cuvée is our Grand Vin, Cuvée: Argot is our Second Vin — our second wine — revelling in the same remarkable complexity, ground-breaking distillation & revolutionary transparency & traceability, but with a little less élevage in oak for freshness, vibrancy and drinkability.

Caymus
California
Cabernet Sauvignon
2021
$59.99
reg. $69.99
A small, inaugural release from Caymus Vineyards, this wine is a California-appellation Cabernet Sauvignon – supple, dark and rich, bearing the signature hallmarks of Caymus. It is sourced from sites throughout the state which feature climatic conditions, soils and topography that are ideally suited to Cabernet. This project stems from excitement over California's diverse vineyard land, often in lesser-known areas, with the potential to produce exceptional Cabernet.

95 Points James Suckling
Cabernet’s classic aromas and flavors star in the 2021 Faust Napa Valley. Delicate violet notes lift the dark fruit on the nose—black currant and briary blackberry—layered with pungent forest botanicals, leafy tobacco, graphite, and toasted spice. The velvet of fine-textured tannins backs expressive red fruit flavors on a complex palate, both sweet and savory with mocha and minerality, juicy ripe fruit and freshness.

Fresh, direct and focused, with red currant and cherry coulis notes that race through, dotted with savory, floral and tobacco accents. Judicious toast lets the fruit play out, and there's solid energy throughout. Drink now through 2030.
Obsidian
Volcanic Estate
Cabernet Sauvignon
2021
$34.99
reg. $39.99
Estate Cabernet is the signature wine of Obsidian Ridge Vineyard and embodies the complexity and wildness of the site. The structure and intensity of upper blocks is complemented by aromatics and acidity of cooler blocks. The extreme climate, altitude, and volcanics of the site result a wine with distinct volcanic character—intense color, aroma and flavor, with a freshness and minerality that typifies the site.

Seghesio
125th Anniversary
Sonoma County
Zinfandel
2020
$19.99
reg. $25.99
An expressive burst of aromas of deep dark fruits lead into layered tones of lifted red fruit and a soft, luscious mid-palate. A juicy, vibrant entry with notes of black cherry, black raspberry, fig, baking spice and fresh Santa Rosa plum, is interwoven with supple, textured tannins and acidity on the long, complex finish. Pair well with grilled steak, sausage and peppers with cheesy polenta, and pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces such as baked rigatoni or pappardelle Bolognese. Pairs well with semi-hard cheeses such as dry jack – our favorite is from a local Sonoma producer, Vella Cheese Company – and aged cheddar or gouda.

Not Yet Rated
In typical Noma fashion, this scraggly and ancient Eastside Lodi situated vineyard eked out a scant .5 tons/acre of vibrant fruit in 2020. The low-yields, sandy soils and small canopies on these 100+ year old vines make for a sunshine-filled expression of Zinfandel filled with dark plum, spice and loam balanced by remarkable natural brightness. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in puncheons to retain freshness, this is a wonderfully distinct example of how good Lodi Zinfandel can be.
