New Vestry members elected and new Senior Warden appointed

The Annual Meeting of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection was held last Sunday, February 1, with a delicious potluck lunch following the meeting. Sincere thanks to our Hospitality Committee for another great event!

The following new members were elected to the Vestry: Stan Hirschler, Paula White and John Biggs, who was also named as our new Senior Warden by Fr. Jonathan. We said goodbye to the following outgoing Vestry members: Senior Warden Bill Carle, Treasurer Jim Gilligan, and Mary Liddle. Thank you for your dedicated service!

During the meeting the congregation heard reports from the Rector, Wardens, Treasurer and Committee heads.

Bring soup cans for BackSnack

Celebrate SOUPer Bowl Sunday! Please bring child friendly flavors of canned soup and place them in the box in the Narthex to support our BackSnack program.

The soup will be put in the additional five BackSnack bags the Outreach committee has begun adding to the weekly delivery for the children at Thomas Utican Elementary School.

Bring last year's palms to burn

As we leave the season of Epiphany, we prepare for the season of Lent.

We will celebrate all that is sweet with our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17..

Please bring last year's palms to church to burn for ashes.

Imposition of Ashes and Reconciliation

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers at Ash Wednesday services. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality. They are imposed with the sign of the cross.
