Camarillo Awarded Cities for Workforce Health Grant

The City of Camarillo has been selected as one of only five cities statewide to receive a Cities for Workforce Health program grant through the League of California Cities. This grant supports the City's ongoing commitment to employee wellness by providing funding and expert consultation to help strengthen workplace wellness initiatives. Camarillo's selection recognizes Camarillo’s leadership as active wellness champions along with our readiness to grow a comprehensive wellness program.

This achievement directly supports the City Council’s Goals & Objectives focused on well-being and aligns with the City’s Sustainability Master Plan, which encourages pursuing grants to develop incentive programs that recognize employee contributions to sustainability and boost morale and long-term organizational health. We’re proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to investing further in the health and wellness of our dedicated City team.

Turf Replacement Rebates Available

It might be wet weather season, but it's never a bad time to consider converting to drought-resistant landscaping! Create beautiful, sustainable, water-saving landscapes with help from Metropolitan Water District's Turf Replacement Program.

All water customers in the City of Camarillo are eligible to apply through this program.

Rebates start at $3 per square foot for residential customers who remove turf and replace it with water-efficient California Friendly® and native plants. Projects may also qualify for an additional $100 per tree (up to five trees) to further enhance landscape benefits.

Enhanced rebates of $7 per square foot are available for commercial, institutional, industrial (CII), HOA, and government/public agency properties.

Visit cityofcamarillo.org/rebate for program details to transform your landscape—while supplies last!

Last Call to Apply for Las Personas Community Academy!

Spots are still available for the 2026 Las Personas Community Academy, an interactive program that offers community members an up-close look at how our City government works while inspiring ongoing civic involvement.

Through informative presentations and collaborative discussions, attendees will gain meaningful insight into how City decisions are made and learn practical ways to stay connected and engaged in the community.

The 2026 Academy will take place over six sessions on Monday evenings, beginning January 26 at the Camarillo Public Library. Participation is free and open to anyone 16 years or older who lives, works, or attends school in Camarillo. Space is limited, and priority will be given to youth participants.

The online application period is now open and will close when the program is full. Don’t miss your chance to join the conversation and make a difference in your community!

New Report for Easier Understanding of City Financials

The City’s first-ever Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is now available on the City’s website. The PAFR provides a clear overview of the City’s financial status, budget priorities, and fiscal health.

The report is designed to present the City's financial information in a comprehensive but concise and visually accessible format that is easily understandable for the general public.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)—the leading professional organization for state and local government finance officials—established the PAFR program to encourage governments to distill key information from their Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) into a high-quality, reader-friendly format.

Protect Camarillo’s Waterways: Pick Up After Your Pet

Did you know that leaving pet waste behind can have serious consequences? When rain washes pet waste into storm drains, it often ends up in our creeks and oceans, introducing harmful bacteria and parasites that threaten wildlife and human health. Plus, the nutrients in pet waste can fuel excessive weed and algae growth, disrupting our fragile ecosystems.

Always pick up after your pet. Bag the waste, tie it securely, and put it in the trash. Together, we can keep our community clean and healthy!

For more information about pollution prevention, please visit cleanwatershed.org or call the City of Camarillo at 805-383-5659.
