In March, one-year-old Nancy traveled from Andhar Pradesh to Madurai to be treated for eye cancer, a nearly 14-hour trip. Right after that, India went into lockdown, stranding Nancy and her family in an unfamiliar city. In addition to covering the cost of her care, Aravind provided the family with food and housing until they could safely return home.
Nancy's story is one of many during the pandemic. It is never business as usual at Aravind, but that has been particularly true in 2020. The one thing that has never changed is our commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to every patient, regardless of ability to pay.
