April Membership Meetings: A Success!

ACMHAI held successful Membership Meetings April 25-26 in Springfield. The meetings kicked off on Thursday with a Best Practice training featuring three distinguished speakers: Tonya Piephoff, Director, Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities; Josh Evans, CEO, Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities; and Kimberly Mercer-Schleider, Executive Director, Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities.

The speakers provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) community and the need for innovation and collaboration.

ACMHAI was also pleased to host three exhibitors for the first time:

  • Gateway Foundation
  • Wellbeing in Action
  • Metopio

The exhibitors showcased their products/services, offering members an opportunity to learn about new resources and solutions for their organizations. As first-time hosts, we recognize that there were areas where we could have done better. We are committed to learning from this experience and improving our offerings in the future.

The April 26th Business meeting also featured a roundtable discussion on certification programs, workforce development, and incentive programs. Members engaged in lively discussions about the challenges and opportunities in these areas.

A special thanks to Timothy Macken, Executive Director, Macon County Mental Health Board and Tony Kirkman, Executive Director, Piatt County Community Mental Health Center for their informative presentations as part of Community Reports.

Members also voted to approve the Bylaws and Policies document, which was passed unanimously during Friday's Business Meeting. Amended ACMHAI Bylaws
