Peace School In Guinea Opens for Classes in Spring 2025!
| |
When a new road was constructed through the village of Kindia, it destroyed our partner's school and orphanage, as well as the restaurant that supported them. Our partners reached out to us for assistance, and the thought of the children being deprived of education and basic necessities broke our hearts.
Fortunately, our partners discovered a partially constructed building that had originally been intended as a hospital. Unfortunately, the owner passed away before the construction was completed. This large building, if finished, would be ideal to house both the school and the orphanage. Additionally, it would provide enough space to accommodate the girls' shelter, the Media Center, and our vision for a Girls' Technical Institute.
We needed to raise $9,000 and were in search of a miracle. That miracle came from the Peterson family and their friends. In less than a week, this generous family and their supporters covered the entire construction cost! Upon hearing the news that the children would have their new school, there was great celebration in Kindia.
The Peace School serves as a crucial step toward ending gender-based violence in Kindia within a single generation. It will teach important lessons on peace, non-violence, conflict resolution, and gender equity, as well as other essential subjects for a complete education.
Now, we need to raise funds for teachers, classroom supplies, and materials. Can you help?

One of our key initiatives focuses on the Girls Shelter in Guinea, where we stand firmly against the abhorrent practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). We believe that every girl deserves a life filled with dignity, safety, and the right to make her own choices.
Your support can help empower these young girls to overcome their challenges and build a brighter future. Our vision is to end female genital mutilation in one generation. Will you join us?

| Pathways To Peace Education: At the UN and Beyond! | |
Peace Education is central to the mission of Pathways To Peace (PTP), and we have been providing educational programming since our inception in 1984. Each year, we offer over 100 presentations, workshops, and training sessions—for adults, youth, and children—both at the UN and beyond.
Our approach is intergenerational, interfaith, and multicultural. We believe everyone can benefit from Peace Education, and our practical and experiential training is intended to build Peace and Peacebuilders – locally and globally.
Education is essential for building a Culture of Peace. If you feel called to contribute to this vital work, we would be grateful for your support! You might also enjoy this video on Peace in the Middle East: https://youtu.be/HSSknNjljmA.

Youth Leadership Program: The Global Leader’s Institute
and More!
| |
George Anthony, affectionately referred to as Mr. George Anthony by our young peacebuilders, serves as our Primary Representative to the UN through the PTP program. He is also the Head of the Global Leaders Institute, a comprehensive peacebuilding program designed for middle and high school students. Our goal is to prepare the next generation of peacebuilders through training, mentoring, and providing opportunities for them to enhance their leadership skills.
Through our peace education programs, students participate in enriching experiences that teach them about conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and community building. Many of these young leaders go on to promote peace in various troubled areas around the world, with some becoming PTP Representatives at the UN.
These young individuals have valuable insights to share, and it is our responsibility to create a platform for their voices to be heard, both at the UN and at other global conferences and initiatives. They are addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
Supporting this program allows more youth and their adult supporters to grow, advance, and showcase their efforts for peace.

Pathways To Peace Students attend the 8th 1M1B
Annual Summit at the United Nations
On December 12, 2024 young peacebuilders from Red Bank Catholic’s Pathways To Peace group traveled to the United Nations in New York City to observe the 1m1b (1 Million for 1 Billion) activate summit. 1m1b promotes entrepreneurial skills in young leaders from around the world. The main focus of this gathering was how students can use AI or eco-safe methods to solve real-world problems.
This year marked the completion of 1M1B’s ‘10 years of Impact’. The 1M1B Summit was held at the historic ECOSOC Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters, in the presence of Ambassador P Harish, Permanent Representative of India to the UN, Mr. Jamil Ahmad (Director, UNEP), Mr. Robert Skinner ( Deputy Director, UN Department of Global Communications), Mr Wook Jin Chang (Chief, NGO Branch, UN Economic and Social Council), and Ms Justina Nixon-Saintil (Vice President and Chief Impact Officer, IBM) aside from key stakeholders from government agencies, industry, and members of civil society.
“The youth are not to be looked down upon. We are ambitious entrepreneurs and have the power to enact change within our community. In addition, as AI rapidly develops, it is important to understand its positives and negatives while keeping the overall health of our earth in mind. The students who spoke today were able to do exactly that. It was a truly humbling experience.”

Your support is critical to advance work for nuclear disarmament.
Pathways to Peace is dedicated to the cause of nuclear disarmament and is a proud member of ICAN. We recognize the importance of promoting global peace and security and strive to contribute to a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons. Our efforts in this area are ongoing, and we are making progress.
A notable example of our work took place on August 25, 2023, when our Program Coordinator, Rinor Jani, organized the first Balkan Forum on Nuclear Disarmament at the Bunk’Art 1 Museum in Tirana, Albania. The conference focused on regional nuclear disarmament, the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons, and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/XGeWSynpABs?si=uwiiLwxgm9VrpGck
The state of our world today suggests that there is no more important work to do than our work together for nuclear disarmament. Your support is essential to continue and accelerate this work.

One of our proudest initiatives is the Exceptional Women of Peace Awards, celebrating the remarkable contributions of women who have dedicated their lives to peacebuilding. These women, through their courage and resilience, embody the spirit of Peace and demonstrate how love can be a powerful catalyst for change. The importance of the Exceptional Women of Peace cannot be overstated. By highlighting these extraordinary individuals, we not only honor their achievements but also inspire future generations to embrace the role of peacebuilders.
Women have proven time and again that they are key players in creating sustainable Peace, often leading efforts in their communities with empathy and strength. Their unique perspectives and nurturing capacities are essential in addressing the root causes of conflict and fostering understanding. This year's awardees are strong, inspiring, and powerful women in peacebuilding. You can watch our ceremony, where we honor their hard work and dedication, here: https://youtu.be/92E2ol3IYXE?si=Im2YvYt5pyqlDm-4

Wisdom Keepers: Bringing Peace to Our World
Pathways To Peace (PTP) has created an online Repository of Wisdom that is free and open to all. Project Leader Naimisha Mehta interviews and captures on video elders who share their perspectives on their source of wisdom, their vision for Peace, and their ideas about how to build Peace on our planet.
As Naimisha shares, “Documenting the stories of people from different backgrounds who have gone down different paths in their extraordinary lives, but then somehow all diverge at the intersection of peace…that has been very inspiring and makes me hopeful of what is possible.”
Naimisha is continuing this incredible offering to our communities, and you are invited to see and hear the first 13 elders sharing their wisdom here: Wisdom Keepers: Bringing Peace to Our World - Pathways To Peace
