Hygieneering was retained by and is actively conducting NSC Work Zone Flagger training* for an essential utilities company at several of their facilities in Illinois.
The National Safety Council (NSC) is the leading organization in roadway safety training. Their Work Zone Flagger Instructor Development Course equips participants with the essential skills and techniques needed to teach the fundamentals of flagging operations. The curriculum also highlights the importance of adhering to guidelines from the Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Hygieneering's Training Institute has achieved certification from the National Safety Council after one of our instructors successfully completed the Work Zone Flagger Instructor Development Course. As a result, Hygieneering is now authorized to deliver comprehensive 4-hour Work Zone Flagger training sessions. This hands-on course is designed to teach roadway personnel how to ensure the safe passage of traffic through and around temporary work zones. The certification is essential for any roadway personnel who are required to perform safe flagging operations as part of their job responsibilities.
Why Hygieneering?
Our training combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on exercises to ensure safety and efficiency in work zones for all personnel involved in roadway projects.
Hygieneering can bring this training to your site or host your team at our 10,000 sq. ft. training facility in Willowbrook, Illinois.
Boost your team’s compliance and safety with Work Zone Flagger training! Contact us today to discuss your EHS training needs and keep your operations safe, compliant, and efficient!
*This course does NOT cover Work Zone Technician or Supervisor training.

Established in 1996, National Safety Month is an annual initiative held throughout June, spearheaded by the National Safety Council (NSC) to raise awareness about preventable injuries and promote safety in workplaces, homes, and communities across the United States.
In 2025, each week of June is dedicated to a specific safety theme:
- Week 1 (June 1–7): Continuous Improvement
- Week 2 (June 8–14): Employee Engagement
- Week 3 (June 15–21): Roadway Safety
- Week 4 (June 22–30): Wellbeing
Participants have access to free resources such as posters, safety talks, quizzes, videos, facts, figures, and other information.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and a proactive approach can help prevent injuries and save lives.
