RE-FORMING OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, WITH THE EARTH, & WITH EACH OTHER
Peace to you,

Over the past few weeks, we have watched mounds of snow shrink into tiny piles, celebrated Holy Week with vigils, processions, and Eucharists, and transformed the Village back to summer mode with the help of Work Week volunteers. We celebrated the long-awaited reopening of the Jacuzzi, danced the night away at prom, and stopped by the Holden School for an open house with volcanoes, and enjoyed day after day of beautiful weather.

We hope you enjoy these stories and images from the past month at Holden!
OPERATIONS
CONSTRUCTING SOMETHING USEFUL FROM SCRAPS: THE "SUPER POOPER"
The Village has a new septic pumping rig! Volunteer Greg Armstrong and Utilities Lead August Kraemer constructed it for pumping the Village's septic tanks and (eventually) applying the septage to the remediation site as nutrients for the earth. As is tradition here at Holden, the tank was given a name: the Super Pooper! In addition to pumping septage, the new tank will also double as a brush rig for fire prevention in the summer by pumping water. The tank was constructed of scrap steel and an old donated propane tank. "A lot of it is made of re-purposed parts," said Greg. "The tank is propane–1200 gallons. The sled it's mounted on is steel from a bridge that was torn down." This tank, pieced together from scraps and put to use by skilled volunteers, will be useful in our valley for years to come.
VILLAGE LIFE
THE JACUZZI IS UP AND RUNNING!
The day has finally arrived! After years closed and under construction during mine remediation, the Jacuzzi has finally reopened this month, thanks to the work of our Operations staff. Dozens of Villagers have already spent sunny afternoons and starry evenings relaxing in the Jacuzzi and enjoying the stunning mountain views. Mothers and mother figures were even treated to a special Mother's Day spa event. It's ready for a summer of fun and relaxation!
