Summer Family Worship "Room to Move"

During the summer, we encourage families to worship together at each of our services. Our Sunday School volunteers and Nursery workers are taking a well-deserved break. In both the Sanctuary and Worship Center, we provide crayons, coloring books, and activity bags for children. There are also quiet worship spaces in both the back of the Sanctuary and the Upper Room (room in back of balcony in the Worship Center) where families can sit while children play.

Everyone is welcome at DUMC — especially during the summer!

PEACH FESTIVAL - Thank You!

I am excited to announce that we raised more than $9,000 from the Peach Festival. The proceeds will go toward a paver fire circle for Carson Simpson Camp, one of our conference Methodist camps in Hatboro. Please plan to have a DUMC workday to lay the pavers once all the prep work is done. Rick Wood has generously offered his landscape design help for this project.

I would like to give a special thanks to all the area leaders who organized the whole festival:

Baskets – Jayne Jacobus

Vendors – Rhelda Richards

Flea Market – Melissa O’Brien

Pancake Breakfast – Karen Lyon

Peach Platters – Lisa Pitts

Bake Table – Janelle Coller

Books – Judy Coleman

Plants – Ken Kugel

Announcer – David Wayne

Music – Kate Sheaffer

Setup – Mike O’Neill

Advertising / Counter – John Bechtel

Burgers & Dogs - Scout Troop 6

Also, a big thanks to everyone who contributed and attended. It was great weather and a fun day of fellowship to end the summer.

Thanks again,

Karen Lyon & Randy Hume, Co-chairs

Thank You!

The staff here at DUMC would like to give a huge thank you to K.E. Siefert plumbing/HVAC contractors for their superior customer service with a plumbing emergency during our Peach Festival weekend. Your extraordinary dedication during this emergency made all the difference which is a blessing to our congregation.

Financial Report for the Seven Months Ended July 31, 2025

Submitted by: Allen Mason (Finance Chairperson) and Karen Sablyak (Treasurer)

Income: Income for July was very positive with the receipt of annual giving of $47K from various members. This resulted in the higher-than-expected income for the month. YTD (Year-To-Date), we are still behind budget by $168K. Blessings to our generous members and a BIG THANK YOU!

Disbursements: July disbursements are less than in prior months becasue we received a refund of a prior months vendor payment and a return of a security deposit. Realm has been discontinued as of 7/31, thus eliminating the duplicate expense beginning in August. YTD, our disbursements are nearly $20K less than budget since staffing costs & trustee expenses have remained under budget – REJOICE!

Net Cash (Deficit): The additional annual giving combined with reduced expenses provided DUMC with positive cash flow in July which is truly a blessing. YTD, there is negative cash flow of ($146K).

DUMC is as active as ever and the Peach Festival added back the flea market booths for vendors. We couldn’t be a successful church without the many hands that are working behind the scenes to fulfill God’s mission for DUMC. We are so very thankful for the generosity of our members to cover our deficits and remain faithful to God that he has a plan for all of us. AMEN!

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again – REJOICE!” —Philippians 4:4 NLT

Pastor's Corner:

Our Stories That Make Us

Matthew West composed a great song called “My Story, Your Glory.” Here are some of the lyrics:

The story of me was a story of shame/ Wrong turns written on every page/ So many parts that were so messed up/ But I love the part where You showed up/ Rewriting my past, rewriting my hurt/ Line by line, word by word/ And now my story is living proof/ There's not a chapter that you can't use.

Now the story of me is a story of grace/ Fingerprints of mercy on every page/ No more ashamed of the path I took/ You set me free to be an open book/ If even my scars are part of Your plan/ Take all of my heart, Lord, here I am/ My only cause 'til You call me home/ Is knowing You more and making You known.

BATS

How often have you slept in your guest room? I slept in ours last night.

We live in a 40-year-old home, considered newer by many standards. Not the type of house where you would expect to find bats. Except this summer.

It's 12:30 a.m. Kate let out our dog, Lady, and hollers upstairs, "There's a bat in the house!" Every fiber of my being wanted to close the bedroom door and go back to sleep. But I am the designated bat chaser. It wasn’t our first bat, so I put on my courage cap (a Phillies hat) and went hunting.

September Mission of the Month:

DOYLESTOWN AREA FISH

The Doylestown Area FISH is a 100% volunteer-run organization, so all the donations go directly to benefit their callers. Volunteers are educated in area resources and have working relationships with the organizations they refer to. All their funding comes from local sources: churches, individuals, and charitable organizations.

FISH provides services for unhoused and housing insecure individuals and families who live in the boundaries of the Central Bucks School District. They grant emergency shelter, emergency food aid, rental assistance, financial grants for utility bills, heating oil deliveries (100 gallons maximum), gasoline, and other bills associated directly with housing expenses. FISH receives calls seven days a week, between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Please support this great organization through the DUMC Mission of the Month.

SERVE & ENGAGE

Volunteer Opportunity - Doylestown Area FISH

Our Mission of the Month, Doylestown Area FISH, is also a great place to volunteer. As a volunteer, you can choose how many days and which days you are available each month, and all you need is your own computer and phone. This is an opportunity to volunteer without leaving your home. Volunteers are educated in area resources and have working relationships with the organizations to which we refer. We are always looking for caring individuals…like you! If you are interested, click here to get in touch.

Best Regards,

Randy

DUMC Community Dinner - Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who provided food, helped set up, serve, and clean up this month's Mexican Fiesta Community Dinner. We served around 80 people, had lots of food left over to fill take home containers, and still made 12 meals for Caring for Friends.

Thank you, as always, to Mike for setting up all of the tables and chairs for us. I know the round tables are a lot of extra work, but everyone seems to enjoy being able to face each other and visit during the meal.

Thank you also to Karen Lyons for providing us with table covers for the round tables.

Crossroads bakery came through again with lots of delicious bread and desserts. Thank you!!

Next month's meal will be on Wednesday, September 24 and is chili night. Look for the signup sheet in the lobby and the signup genius in Connections.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone again next month.

Best,

Cindy

The Youth Team Needs You!

Adult Volunteers Needed - Youth Programs

We’re looking for 2–3 volunteers to help teach Sunday School this fall as part of our Youth Fusion program. The commitment is just one Sunday a month at 9:00 am. All teaching materials are provided, and prep time is minimal—about 30 minutes is all it takes to feel confident and prepared. No teaching experience is needed—just a heart for investing in our young people!

We’re also seeking 1–2 Elevation small group leaders to help guide youth discussions on Sundays from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. We’re especially in need of a few female leaders, but would also love to add more male leaders to support and connect with our teens. This is a great opportunity to build meaningful relationships and walk alongside our youth as they grow in faith.

If you're interested in either role, please fill out this FORM.

️

Thank you for considering being part of our team and making a difference in the lives of our students!

DUMC New to the Faith Class

Sundays, September 21 - October 19

10:00 - 11:00 am, Room 22

Donuts and coffee provided!

Are you new to the Christian faith—or have you been following Jesus for a while but feel the need to revisit the basics? If so, this class is for you!

Join us for a five-week journey exploring the foundational truths of Christianity in a welcoming, conversational setting. We’ll talk about who Jesus is, what it means to follow him, how to grow in your faith, and other key aspects of the Christian life. Whether you have questions, doubts, or simply want to strengthen your understanding, this is a great place to start.

Because worship is such an important part of following Jesus, we encourage everyone attending the class to also attend either the 9:00 am Uplifting Worship Service or the 11:11 Word & Worship Service. Experiencing worship together helps us grow in faith and connect with God in meaningful ways.

We’ll need at least five participants in order to hold the class, so if you’re interested, please let Pastor Paul know.

Come as you are, bring your questions, and let’s grow together!

If you are interested in being a part of the class or if you have questions, please email Pastor Paul.
