Last-minute Halloween and Día de los Muertos Events in OC

It’s reaching the end of October, but you still don’t have any plans on the calendar?

Luckily, cities across Orange County will be hosting their own ghoulish events, whether it’s trick-or-treat activities for the kids, movies in the park, spooky mazes, dancing and music. There’s something in store for anyone who’s trying not to be stuck passing out candy on Halloween night.

While the end of October marks the night of Halloween, the beginning of November calls for the celebration of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.

Back with another roundup of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos events, the Voice of OC has you covered no matter the occasion.

The New O.C. Museum of Art Opens in the Heart of Costa Mesa

It was once a lima bean field.

Then it was a grassy field, then a dirt lot.

Now, the new, $94.5 million Orange County Museum of Art has been completed (minus a few tiny details), sitting just east of the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, itself finished in 2006.

The 53,000 square-foot OCMA – designed by Culver City-based firm Morphosis Architects, founded by Pritzker Prize winner Thom Mayne – completes the arts and culture puzzle that is the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. For decades, the late businessman and philanthropist Henry Segerstrom (one of the men behind South Coast Plaza) had envisioned a visual art museum as part of the Segerstrom Center campus, and finally, in October 2022, his dream is coming true.

Each week, we recommend a variety of events and experiences from the listings at SparkOC.com, our free website for Orange County's arts and cultural community. We always suggest you be mindful of the most recent health and safety guidelines in California, Orange County, and the venue for the listing.
