Week 4 Topic: All About Tutoring and Preparing for Midterms
| | |
Happy Week 4!
This week is all about checking in on your study habits and finding strategies that actually work for you. Your Peer Mentor will help you reflect on how you’ve been preparing for exams and introduce new ways to make your studying more effective.
We’ll also talk about the difference between active and passive learning because rereading notes isn’t always enough! Active learning means doing things like creating practice questions, teaching concepts to a friend, or testing yourself without notes.
Your Peer Mentor can also connect you to AATC (Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center), where you can find free tutoring in STEM, writing, and study skills. You can even schedule a Success Coaching session to learn techniques for time management, test-taking, and goal setting before finals season hits.
💡 Pro tips:
- Break study sessions into smaller, focused chunks, your brain retains more that way!
- Mix up subjects when you study to help with long-term memory.
- Try using AATC workshops to stay organized and confident.
As always, don't forget to follow us on Instagram @ucdavisnsp for updates on programs and events!
