A Message from the President

President Jim Morton

One of the ways Cape Fear Community College supports student success is by creating clear pathways to four-year universities. This year, we’ve continued to expand the number of direct transfer opportunities available to our students, connecting them with top universities across the country.

We recently added several new university transfer agreements, including partnerships with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the New York Film Academy, and just last week we announced an agreement with Arizona State University. These agreements make it easier for students to continue their education and pursue a bachelor’s degree after completing their associate degree at CFCC.

We aren’t stopping there. Several additional agreements are being finalized, each designed to offer our students more options, more flexibility, and more opportunities to reach their educational and career goals.

This month we celebrated University Transfer Week, which brought university partners to campus to meet directly with our students, as well as students from local high schools. This event provided an opportunity to explore their next steps, ask questions, and make connections that can shape their futures.

These partnerships and events demonstrate how we support students well beyond graduation day. By building strong connections with universities, we’re helping our students gain a clear, affordable, and achievable pathway to success.

In Case You Missed It

CFCC announced a new partnership with Arizona State University to provide students with a seamless transfer experience through the MyPath2ASU® program. My Path2ASU® offers a set of customized tools available to transfer students.

The Sew Crafty Club recently completed and donated over 50 blankets for NICU babies at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The Sew Craft Club brings together students from a wide range of academic programs who share an interest in learning to sew.

On Thursday, October 23, CFCC student Amanda Cooper hosted a bone marrow/stem cell donor drive at CFCC's downtown campus. As a bone marrow transplant survivor, the drive was more than a service project for her English class, it's deeply personal.

CFCC is celebrating a significant contribution to its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive thanks to the generosity of Capital Ford of Wilmington. The dealership donated over 500 pounds of food, equivalent to $1,046 in groceries, including 528 items from the CFCC Food Pantry’s wish list.

Apprenticeship Spotlight

Employer input is crucial in preparing the next generation of skilled automotive technicians. At Cape Fear Community College, the Automotive System Technology program depends on strong industry partners like Parkway Hyundai and Parkway Subaru to keep training relevant and responsive to today's workforce needs.

Featured Sea Devils

Jessie Robertson, a 2019 graduate of CFCC with three associate degrees, has built a career blending art and advocacy, using her love of frogs to raise environmental awareness. She now works as a gallery specialist and graphic designer, with her work recently featured in the 2025 CFCC Alumni Art Exhibition.

When CFCC English Instructor Dylan Patterson volunteered at Camp Jabberwocky, he was inspired to co-found Theatre for All, a nonprofit empowering individuals with disabilities through performance. What began as one outreach class in 2014 has grown into a thriving Wilmington organization fostering talent, creativity and community.
