January and February went by so fast ... I just blinked and it's March already! I was wishing for the arrival of Spring. But, typical of Vancouver, we still have our snowy and rainy days. Wishing for these sunny spring days soon!

Spending more time in the Studio during rainy days ... the best part is seeing Peanut in my Studio thinking "are you done yet?"

MARCH Birthstone - Aquamarine

Aquamarine's name comes from the Latin words for "water" and "sea" and it was said to calm waves and keep sailors safe at sea. March's birthstone was also thought to enhance the happiness of marriages. The best gems combine high clarity with limpid transparency and blue to slightly greenish blue hues. Like many beryls, aquamarine forms large crystals suitable for sizable fashioned gems and carvings.

Aquamarine History

The first documented use of an aquamarine gemstone is by the Greeks, around the time period 480 to 300 BC. It has been very popular since the seventeenth century. Aquamarine amulets were worn by ancient sailors to render them fearless and protect them from the wrath of the oceans, especially if the stone was engraved with the Poseidon chariot.

Aquamarine Powers

Aquamarine is supposed to bring good fortune and harmony to the wearer. The eternal blue of the aquamarine is supposed to bring good luck to married couples by strengthening the ties of marriage.
