Adult_Confirmation_Class_p1.png

No matter where you are on your faith journey, consider attending this series, where we will explore together the basics of the Christian faith through the Episcopal lens. Whether you are new to the Episcopal Church or just interested in sharing and learning, you are welcome.

Attendance at all sessions is required for those desiring to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. Classes continue from 9:30-10:15 am in the Parish Hall on April 19th, 26th, May 3rd, 10th, and 17th.

Contact Father Ackerman with any questions.

Confirmation by our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Glenda Curry will occur on Pentecost, Sunday, May 24th at 10:00 am.

April Outreach Drive

Crisis Services of North Alabama (CSNA) provides free, 24/7 crisis assistance in Decatur and surrounding areas, including a 24-hour HELPline (256-716-1000), HOPE Place emergency shelter for domestic violence victims, and specialized sexual assault forensic examinations. Additionally, they offer confidential counseling, legal advocacy, and 2-1-1 resource referrals for mental health and safety.

A long-time partner with St. John’s, they are in need of items for their various locations and programs. Please look at the list and provide what you can! Items can be left in the donation bins by the office or in the narthex. The list of needs includes clothing in a range of sizes, over-the-counter medications, and some household items. Tap the button for the complete list.

Walmart gift cards are the most useful donations as they cover a wide variety of needs, like gas, pharmacy, and underwear. Often, women arrive at a shelter with only the clothes on their backs. Gift cards can restore dignity and autonomy and allow the displaced mother the opportunity to purchase a gift for their child during Christmas holidays, birthdays, and back-to-school time.

REGISTRATION: HERO ACADEMY VBS: SERVING LIKE THE SAINTS

Monday, June 22-Friday, June 26

9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Inspired by the lives of saints like Francis and Martin of Tours and Therese and Catherine, St. John’s Hero Academy VBS invites children to consider how following Jesus’ call to love and serve others is the most heroic thing of all. Children will create projects in the Hero Maker Design Studio, play high-energy games in the Gamer’s Gauntlet, hear stories of the faithful in the Hero Archives, and relax with a treat or two at the Holy Hero Cafe. All the while, they will discover that we can indeed serve like the saints!
