1199SEIU Employers and Members Increasingly Use Online Options for Ease of Processing Disability Claims

National Benefit Fund (NBF) employers are increasingly using the 1199SEIU Employer Portal’s new Employment Events Module to submit disability claims for their 1199SEIU employees. The module allows employers to submit Part C of the Disability Benefits Claim Form electronically with much of the member information prepopulated, including payroll information, saving employers significant time. For more information on how to streamline the employer reporting process, please contact EmployerServices@1199Funds.org.

Members who now apply for disability benefits through the Benefit Funds’ MyAccount member portal and sign up for direct deposit are accessing their benefits in record time. More than 3,700 members have submitted their applications for disability benefits via MyAccount since the function went live in January 2023. To apply for disability benefits, members can visit MyAccount and select the “Apply for Disability” option. Members may contact Member Services at (646) 473-9200 or their Outreach Coordinator for assistance.

Training and Employment Funds Hold Second Round of Career Pathways Training Program Orientations

The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds (TEF) are offering the second in a series of orientations for members interested in receiving assistance through the New York State Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program. TEF is one of three organizations recently awarded a total of $646 million through the CPT Program to recruit and train healthcare workers in occupational shortage areas. The orientations—which begin November 7 and continue throughout the month either remotely or in person—will focus on members interested in careers as licensed mental health workers, social workers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselors. Participants will learn more about the CPT Program and the educational financial support they may receive, such as tuition assistance, tutoring support services and job placement assistance. Members may visit MyTEF to view the schedule and to register.
