Celebrating Fall Family Weekend
This past weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming nearly 30 families from across the country for our annual Fall Family Weekend, and what a success it was! Families had the chance to explore our breathtaking Mountainside campus and experience firsthand what makes Darrow such an extraordinary place to learn and grow.

A Memorable Town Hall with the Board of Trustees
On Friday, September 27, 2024, the Darrow Board of Trustees hosted a special Town Hall in the Dairy Barn Theater, giving students, faculty, and staff a unique opportunity to meet the dedicated individuals shaping Darrow's future.
The session opened with Board Chair Edwin "Van" Seldon '60, who shared the lessons he learned at Darrow that have stayed with him throughout his life. Each trustee took a turn at the microphone, offering personal stories and reflections that resonated deeply with the audience.
A lively question-and-answer session followed, giving students a chance to engage directly with the trustees. At the close of the event, Van humorously remarked, "I don't think I've ever spoken to a group of students who are at least sixty-five years younger than me! I was nervous. They're probably going back to their dorms wondering who that old guy was up on stage."
This lighthearted moment captured the warmth and openness that defines our Darrow community. We are grateful to our trustees for their leadership and willingness to connect with our students meaningfully.

We recently hosted a Cross Country Invitational, with over 175 students from 13 schools tackling our challenging Mountainside course—the toughest in the league! A New Era for Darrow Soccer
The Darrow Varsity Soccer team has taken flight this season, setting a thrilling tone with its undefeated 5-0 record. Last week's incredible 7-0 victory over five-time HVAL champions Storm King was nothing short of spectacular! Under the guidance of our new Head Coach, Rich Powell, the team has seen remarkable improvements in just two months. But as much as the numbers speak for themselves, it's the spirit and determination of these athletes that genuinely stand out.

Exciting News from our College Counselor!
The college admissions season is in full swing, and our students are diving into the process with energy and ambition! From crafting compelling Common App essays to personalizing college-specific statements, they're putting their best foot forward. They're also busy arranging letters of recommendation and visiting campuses to find their perfect fit.
We're thrilled to host several colleges this fall, including Hofstra University, Wheaton College, Endicott College, SUNY Potsdam, and Landmark College. These visits allow students to learn more about the schools, ask questions, and explore their options firsthand.

The Class of 2028 recently embarked on their Fresh Fire adventure, a treasured Darrow tradition of camping in the Vermont woods.
