HEARTS OF MIROMAR

WEEKLY UPDATE

Hearts of Miromar sisters, let's pause and celebrate the beautiful truth at the heart of our group: we are stronger together. In a world that can feel fast and unpredictable, showing up for one another creates a powerful safety net of love, understanding, and unbreakable support. When we listen deeply, cheer boldly, and stand side by side through every high and low, we remind each other that no one has to face anything alone.

Research beautifully confirms what we live every day. Strong female connections fuel resilience, boost emotional well-being, and even help us thrive longer and healthier. But beyond the science, it's the real magic we make here: lifting each other up, sharing wisdom, laughing through tears, and growing brighter because we're in this together.

Our Hearts of Miromar isn't just a group. It's a living circle of incredible women, each bringing her unique light. By being present, kind, and committed to one another, we keep making this community as vibrant, empowering, and special as every single member truly is.

Let's keep nurturing this sisterhood with open hearts and steady hands. Because when we show up for each other, we all rise higher. You're the reason this place feels like home. 💖✨

A Humorous Look at Southwest Florida Through the Cartoons of Doug MacGregor

Join beloved Southwest Florida cartoonist Doug MacGregor for a sidesplitting, laugh-out-loud session as he brings his signature wit to the quirky joys and everyday absurdities of living in our paradise.

With over 40 years as a professional cartoonist—including nearly 25 years creating thousands of editorial cartoons for the Fort Myers News-Press (1988–2011) and his ongoing weekly cartoons for the Naples Press—Doug has a keen eye for capturing what makes our region so uniquely hilarious. He'll share favorites poking fun at snowbirds, early-bird specials, holiday lights gone wild, the elusive green flash, three-wheeled bikes, boogie boards, and so much more.

Doug also created the popular local comic strip Sunny Side Up, which delightfully explores Southwest Florida life, and he'll talk about his journey as an editorial cartoonist in our local newspapers.

Come for a fun, lighthearted, and insightful lunch filled with laughter, local stories, and a fresh perspective on why our corner of Florida is pure cartoon gold. You won't want to miss this chance to hear from one of the area's most iconic illustrators!

April Luncheon

Monday, April 13

This month, we're proud to rally behind the FGCU Campus Food Pantry, helping currently enrolled students facing food insecurity—the challenge of not having consistent access to enough nutritious food due to financial hardships.

Open year-round, the pantry provides up to 13 pounds of food per week to students in need, making a real difference in their lives and studies.

Current high-need items include:

  • Canned proteins (chicken, tuna, salmon, sausage)
  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Granola bars, hearty soups, cereals
  • Pasta, sauces, Mac & Cheese
  • Any non-perishable staples!

With many of us heading north soon, this is the perfect time to clean out pantries and share the abundance. Your donations directly help our local college students thrive.

How to donate:

  • Drop off non-perishables at Carol Lamping's home: 10284 Porto Romano
  • On luncheon day, bring items to the Beach Club entrance from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM (cars will be collecting!)
  • Monetary gifts: Checks payable to FGCU Food Pantry, or Visa/ALDI gift cards are warmly welcomed.

Together, we're nourishing futures and showing the power of sisterhood in action. Thank you for opening your hearts (and pantries!)—every item counts!

Spring is on its way—and so is that sneaky little time change! 🌸⏰ Sunday, March 8, we “spring forward” and lose an hour of sleep… but we gain longer, sunnier evenings perfect for more time with friends, golden-hour walks, or that extra cocktail by the pool. 😍

How are YOU feeling about it? Let’s share the love (and the coffee needs) in this quick poll—your answers always make us smile and feel a little less alone in the adjustment!

How are you feeling about "springing forward" this upcoming Sunday?
