Meet Chad Lucht, Urban Manager for Fairfield Soil & Water Conservation District

For more than 35 years, Chad has worked to help protect the county’s natural resources through erosion and sediment control, stormwater management and construction site compliance.

The role includes reviewing construction drawings, inspecting construction sites and helping ensure compliance with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and local regulations. Chad also assists communities with their stormwater requirements and works with property owners to address drainage concerns.

What makes the work rewarding is being part of the process and seeing how decisions and projects can create positive change across Fairfield County. Sometimes, the impact is as simple as helping a property owner resolve an issue or answering a resident’s questions.

Much of the work does not produce immediate results, but the impact can become evident years later.

After more than three decades in the field, Chad’s advice is simple: Focus on the thank-yous, never stop learning and do not be afraid to ask questions. “Don’t get frustrated if you don’t see changes right away; it takes time,” Chad said. “You’re not going to change the world, but you might be able to change a very small piece in the community for the better."

Meet Corey Clark, Board Member for The Senior Hub

The Senior Hub, also known as Meals on Wheels, works to enable independent living and improve quality of life for older adults throughout Fairfield County. Its 15-member Board of Trustees includes volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and experience in the private and public sectors who provide direction and oversight to the organization.

For Corey, supporting The Senior Hub is a way to help seniors remain independent and continue living in their own homes, priorities that are important to many older adults in the community.

“As a lifelong Lancastrian, it is truly a privilege to serve and support an organization providing vital services to seniors in the community I call home,” Corey said.

While Meals on Wheels remains an important part of The Senior Hub’s work, the organization provides much more. Services include social activities such as bingo and book clubs, personal care and homemaking assistance, minor home repairs, and transportation to medical and other appointments.Through these programs and services, The Senior Hub helps Fairfield County seniors stay connected, supported and independent.
