UPCOMING WORSHIP SERVICES

OCT 25 | "Creating a Reverse Bucket List," Rev. Greg Chute, Guest Speaker — In-person & Zoom

We've heard a lot about Bucket Lists: the places we want to go, things we want to do, and people we want to see. I think of them as a dreamer's wish list, like the "1,000 Places to See Before You Die." More recently I've been reading about a Reverse Bucket List: the places, things, and people I can NOT go, do, or see; in other words, not my wishes as much as what is important. What does it look like to make a list of the places, persons, and things that are essential to my character and well-being? What would that list of indispensables include? And ultimately, what does that say about my priorities, values, and principles? Let's explore this together.

NOV 01 | "The Wonder of the Natural World — Interdependence," Rev. Kathryn Adams, Minister — In-person & Zoom

As we start Indigenous Persons’ Month, we will celebrate the wonders of this beautiful planet with so many gifts to explore. The moral call of this time is for our society to learn how to live in harmony with the planet, to live as one species among many, and to honor our interdependence.

MINISTER'S COLUMN

Greetings!!

This is a No Kings weekend focused on protecting our elections and democracy. Democratic relations are represented in our core values.

Whether you UU the Vote (Side with Love), March to the Polls (Poor People's Campaign), postcard, give people rides, witness, or are an election worker... or any other choice, please engage for our democracy.

Through this season I am grounded in "Hold on, hold on, my dear ones... here comes the dawn."

Blessings on the week to come.

ELECTRIFYING NEWS

We received our first Delmarva Power bill since the solar panels were activated, and they produced more electric than what we used. Our bill for 8/27-9/25/26 was for $34.02 (delivery charges), we used 354 kWh, and we generated 391 kWh. We will receive credits for the excess 37 kWh generated.

THANKS FOR GETTING OUT THE VOTE!

The Social Justice Committee appreciates everyone who stepped up to prepare letters to encourage MI voters to go to the polls in the upcoming election. The 200+ letters we personalized on Sunday at UUCR and from home are going out this week. Our efforts contribute to the millions of mailings people across the country have volunteered to send. We believe they will increase voter turnout. Thank you for your good work!

LEGACY FUND COMMITTEE

The Legacy Fund Committee is seeking grant applications for Fiscal Year 2026/2027. Applications may be submitted by committee chairs or individual members/friends of UUCR. Grants may be requested for programs to enhance our facility, foster congregational life, or to support specific programs or projects in the community. See MQ, Amy, or Nancy for further information.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

As has been our custom for the last several years, we will be holding a Soup Sampler Supper at UUCR on the first night of the Chestertown Chorale’s Holiday Concert, providing a tasty and speedy meal before the concert begins.

We will feature 10 different soups for sampling, a variety of breads, beverages, and a spread of desserts with coffee for $25 per person.

Tickets are on sale after our weekly Sunday worship services.

Please contact Jane Hardy if you are willing to make soup, and/or provide breads and desserts.

This event has become a beloved social occasion for us, as well as a money maker! Don’t miss it.
