Help Us Shape the Future of TCFL!

The Library is creating a new 3-year Strategic Plan to guide our work and better serve the community. As part of this process, we want to hear from you to make sure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of Talbot County residents.

We invite you to help shape the future of the Talbot County Free Library by completing THIS survey by February 25, 2026. All survey responses are anonymous and will be collected and summarized by our planning consultant, Due East, and shared with our staff, Board, and Strategic Planning Committee.

If you would like to be entered into a raffle for one of several $50 Visa gift cards, please provide your email address at the end of the survey. The gift card drawing will take place on February 26. If you are selected, you will receive an email from Due East. Please bring that email to the Circulation Desk to pick up your gift card.

Thank you for your time and for sharing your thoughts.

St. Michaels Branch to Reopen March 2026

We are pleased to announce the highly anticipated reopening of the St. Michaels Branch on March 21st, 2026!

The newly expanded library features spaces designed to better serve the needs of the community, improve accessibility, and support a wide range of learning and gathering needs. The project reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in welcoming, modern spaces for all residents and visitors.

“At the beginning of this project we held group visioning sessions. I remember people saying they wanted things like a quiet reading and study room” said Shauna Beulah, St. Michaels Branch Manager. “We’re happy to be able to give our community what they asked for.”

To mark the grand opening, the library will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and community celebration with fun family activities on March 21st. Additional details about the event will be shared in the coming weeks.

“We’d like to thank the County, State of Maryland, our donors, and our community for the tremendous advocacy and support they have given us since this project was identified as a need back in 2013,” said TCFL Library Director, Dana Newman. “Their support has allowed us to expand the St. Michaels Library so it can better serve both current and future patrons.”

Stay tuned for more information on our grand reopening!
