Free Motion 103 Saturday Oct. 10 need not have taken 102 10:30 - 3

101 is a prerequisite for 102 & 103 which need not be taken in order.

101: Learn the basics of good quilting habits along with good ergonomics, what it takes to be successful at "Free Motion Quilting”, using your sewing machine in free motion mode, basic patterns to practice, marking your top and more.

102: Continued focus on skill building and developing confidence. We will explore motifs based on the circle, ovals, leaves, swirls and more. Design discussion will include when and where each motif might be useful in your own quilt creations.

103: Designs based on a half-circle. Classics such as rainbow meander, pebble rainbow and more will be introduced. Intro to designs organized into grid patterns adds a new look to the quilting and designs.

Reversable Circle Table runner

Each circle is complete in itself so the back is finished at the same time as the front. This is a beginner level, fun and fast table runner.We will focus on fall fabric but feel free to make it scrappy and use up some stash as long as the pieces are at least 8"

Know Your Machine

This class is a prerequisite to Free Motion Quilting 101 and most basic sewing classes. Knowing how your machine works and how to maintain your machine are what makes sewing a project successful. Where and if you need to oil, what needle to use with certain threads and how to use some of the feet and stitches that come with your machine are all covered. Bring your machine, owner's manual, accessories, feet and notebook for notes.

Work on your project in the company of other creative sewists. Irons and ironing table available, coffee, tea and filtered water, ice, full kitchen and great lighting and chairs for your comfort. Don't forget your sewing supplies (rotary cutter, mat, ruler, etc and machine cord/foot controller..

NOTE: All classes require a sewing machine and some tools. Arrangements may be made to rent a machine for class for $15 or Howell's can help you purchase a new or used one.

What you will need for most classes: Thread, pkg of needles, rotary cutter, rotary cutter ruler and mat, pins, seam ripper, small snipping scissors, fabric glue stick, straight pins and fabric required. The teacher may ask you to have other supplies.
