JUNE 2025

A Note from Our Team

As we head into the heart of summer, June is the beginning of longer days, rising temperatures, and increased demand on your trees and turf. Here’s everything you need to know to keep your landscape thriving in Denver this month:

Insect Alert: Emerald Ash Borer Activity Detected

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is on the move and it's active earlier than usual this season.

This invasive beetle, notorious for its devastating impact on Ash trees, has now been confirmed in Edgewater, signaling its continued spread throughout the Denver metro area.

Why It Matters:

EAB is highly destructive and often fatal to Ash trees if left untreated. With earlier-than-normal activity and increased population pressure, it’s critical to stay ahead of this pest’s life cycle.

Take Action Now:

  • Early intervention saves trees. Treatment is far more affordable than removal or replacement.
  • Proactive care pays off. Staying ahead of the pest's activity gives your Ash the best chance to survive.
  • 2023 EB3 Trunk Injections: We strongly recommend a booster soil injection this season to support protection through the high-risk period.

We're Here to Help

Whether you're trying to preserve a beloved ash tree or considering long-term alternatives, our certified arborists will work with you to develop a customized, proactive plan.

Bug-Free Living Starts at the Foundation

At Autumn Tree Lawn and Landscape, we believe the most effective way to keep your home free from unwelcome pests is simple: stop them before they ever get inside.

Our proven Bug Barrier Program creates a powerful shield around your home, targeting the perimeter and foundation where insects and arachnids are most likely to enter. By treating these key areas, we can drastically reduce pest intrusion.

What We Defend Against:

Our barrier application is specially formulated to protect against a wide range of common and invasive household pests, including:

🐜 Ants

🕷 Spiders

🪲 Beetles

🐛 Pill Bugs

🐞 Boxelder Bugs

🪹 Elm Seed Beetles

These pests may be tiny, but they can cause big problems—from contaminating food and nesting in hard-to-reach areas to triggering allergies or simply making your home uncomfortable.

Why Timing Matters:

The peak season for insect activity in Colorado runs from June through October, when warm temperatures and dry conditions create high pest pressure. Monthly treatments during this window offer the best protection, ensuring that your barrier remains strong and effective all season long.

Peace of Mind, One Application at a Time

Let us help you reclaim your home from creeping, crawling intruders. Our trained technicians use safe, targeted applications that are tough on pests but considerate of your home and family.

Summer Tree Trimming:

Why Now is the Time to Prune

As we reach the height of summer, it’s easy to assume the growing season is slowing down, but when it comes to tree care, July is one of the most critical months for preventive maintenance. At Autumn Tree Lawn and Landscape, we highly recommend scheduling your trimming now rather than later to help your trees thrive and avoid potential hazards.

Storms = Risky Conditions

Sporadic thunderstorms increases the likelihood of sudden limb failure. Trees with heavy summer foliage absorb and hold a significant amount of moisture, which dramatically increases their weight. When storms roll in, especially with strong winds and heavy rainfall, this added weight can lead to costly damage from broken branches or split limbs.

Foliage Weight Matters

Full summer canopies may be beautiful, but they come with risks. Dense foliage adds substantial weight to limbs, making them more vulnerable to stress fractures and failure, especially in older or poorly pruned trees. Trimming in July helps redistribute that weight and improves airflow throughout the canopy, which also helps prevent fungal diseases and pest infestations.

Avoid Brittle Breakage in Late Summer

As we transition into August, trees exposed to weeks of intense sun and heat often begin to dry out. This dehydration causes limbs to become brittle and more prone to breakage, even under their own weight. By trimming in July, you get ahead of this natural cycle and protect your trees before conditions worsen.

Proactive Care Prevents Expensive Repairs

Waiting too long to prune may result in property damage, injury, or emergency removal costs. Proactive trimming now helps preserve the health of your trees, enhances safety, and can even reduce long-term maintenance expenses.
