A note from Kevin Drollinger,
Executive Director
|
From gaps in care to increasing rates of mental health issues, there are always challenging statistics around behavioral health. But here's some good news for you:
The 988 suicide prevention lifeline is set to go live in just a few weeks, and our region is working vigorously to answer the call.
Provident was pleased to be named the sole backup crisis center covering the State of Missouri and one of 12 national backup centers based on our strong track record and the fact that our team has a reputation as an excellent and data-driven partner. We're joined locally by BHR, who was also named a national backup center.
That means our region is home to two national centers. It means that among real competition to get this contract, Provident and one of our fellow mental health providers were selected to step up for our community and beyond. It means that our region will have a real influence on behavioral health in the US.
It's a great compliment to our crisis system in St. Louis and to our agency. Provident has doubled in size over the past six years because of the incredible work done by all of our departments.
We're excited to keep the momentum going for our clients, for our agency, and for the St. Louis region!

Thank you to Provident Board Chair Dr. Edward Lawlor for representing us on KTRS's Jennifer & Wendy Show. Dr. Lawlor was interviewed about the state of behavioral healthcare in our region as part of Mental Health Awareness month.
Deaths of despair – which are attributed to suicide, alcohol and substance use – are up dramatically across the country," said Dr. Lawlor. "Locally, ER visits for mental health services have increased. The increases in our waiting lists are up dramatically over the past year."

Clinical Team Makes Videos for YouTube
|
Provident's therapists are releasing videos via the agency's YouTube channel to share helpful behavioral health information as well as connect with people who are looking for their services. The videos are on Provident's YouTube channel and embedded on each clinician's profile.
"The pages on our website that profile clinicians are consistently our most-visited," said Director of Clinical Services Lindsay Jeffries. "We are using these digital tools to give people the information they need to make informed decisions about their own behavioral health."
