  • Governor DeSantis' 2025-2026 Budget has been published

Dear Readers;

Good Monday morning. Governor DeSantis has published his 2025-2026 Budget and there is funding for arts and culture included!

This is encouraging news.

Here is the link to the Department of State Arts and Culture section of his budget on his website. You can scan down and see a little over $6M on the fixed capital outlay line and $27M on cultural programs and grants. ($1M of that is for a Bisesquicentennial event. 2026 is the country's 250th birthday.)

Don't be dismayed that we don't see the Culture Builds Florida line yet. We're at the beginning of the process. This is quite something. I don't believe I've seen this much money in a Governor's recommended budget before session.

As of the time this email was sent, we did not have the recommended list, but the Governor's dollar amount is a very friendly one as we begin speaking with our legislative delegates.

You can count on seeing more soon.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Jones

If you do not know what legislative district you are in, go here and follow the instructions. Your state house district will show up the biggest (it's the House of Representatives' site), but you can look right under your Representative's picture and see "State Senate" and that district number. Remember that number because clicking the State Senate link will take you to the Senate's site and you will have to find your Senator by district.
