How To Follow RAAM – RAW - RAE

CHOOSE YOUR RESOURCE

Visit our website at www.raceacrossamerica.org. Scroll over “FOLLOW THE RACE” and you’ll see a dropdown menu that lists, “ROSTER & RACE COVERAGE,” “LIVE TRACKING,” and “RAAM FACEBOOK.”

Or, see our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raceacrossamerica/?hl=en

RESULTS

The Results tab is where you’ll find the official standings and much more. On the dropdown menu, click on “ROSTER & RACE COVERAGE,” then move your cursor to “RACE COVERAGE” and then click on “RESULTS.”

Click on any of the solo racer or team names and you’ll see a full report of their arrival date and time at each of the 55 time stations on the route. The column labeled “TS#” tells the most recent Time Station at which a given racer or team has arrived. “Miles” is the distance a racer has ridden since the start. “ARR DT” is the date and time a racer arrived at their most recent time station. “Race TM” is the time elapsed since the start of the race, expressed total elapsed time since the start in days, hours, minutes. “Avg” is the racer’s average speed thus far, expressed in miles per hour.

For more information about the racers/teams click on the ’Racers’ tab and select the team of racer name.

LIVE TRACKING: Become a RAAM “Dot Watcher”

Access it by clicking on “LIVE TRACKING.”

Each solo racer and team has a tracker from TrackLeaders that transmits their position on the course and their current speed. Each solo racer and team shows as an individual dot on a map of the course.

“Dot Watching” is a fun way to keep up with RAAM. This system practically takes the fans onto the course. It’s possible to zoom in on the map to see every turn in the road, the elevation profile can be shown so it’s possible to tell just how steep a particular climb is. Each racer or team’s distance since the last time station is shown, so you can really see the battles unfold as one racer chases another.

As great as TrackLeaders system is, crews sometimes forget to change their tracker’s battery, and we’ve had racers damage their trackers, so in either case, that racer or team will disappear from the tracking stream. We’ve also had crews forget the tracker in one of their vehicles, (“Wow, racer # so-and-so is going 65 mph!”).

 RAAM FACEBOOK

Our Facebook page is the best source of videos, photos and written reports of what is happening on course. Thanks to Facebook, many of the photos here are posted within minutes after being taken, many of the videos are posted within a couple of hours—sometimes sooner.

Facebook is also where we LiveStream the RAAM and RAW starts from Oceanside, the RAE start from Ohio, and the racer finishes from Atlantic City.

NOTE: Other than the starts and finishes, 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢 𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗦. If you see a comment in one of our posts claiming to be a live stream of the race, know that the post is fake, and that if you click on it, the link will ask for your credit card for access. Don’t fall for it! We delete these bogus posts as we find them, but these scammers are persistent and sometimes their posts stay up for a while.

Summer Road (4) and Time Trial (2) RQs

In early summer - June and July – the ultra-road racing season in Europe is peaking.

Tortour Ultra (Zurich, Switzerland) - July 10, 2025

Tortour starts July 10 in Zurich, Switzerland. Organized in 2009, this year will be the 16th edition of Tortour. The event employs 4 loops – 500km, 250km, 200km and 50km. The 4 loops are arranged in cloverleaf fashion. Each loop starts and finishes in Kusnacht, a municipality located on Lake Zurich, 8km SSE of Zurich.

The event features 4 distances – 1000km, 500km and 250km, as well as a 50km route for beginners. In addition, there is a 200km gravel ride, as well as other activities. The 1000km is the RAAM Qualifier. The actual distance - approximately 1,007km with 15,300mt of elevation gain – is achieved by riding all 4 loops. Tortour Ultra is open to solo racers as well as 2 and 4-person teams. There is also an open category which accommodates teams of 5-8 riders.

In addition, there is something called “Tortour Myself” where you can ride the 50km loop as many times as you can in 9-, 12- or 24-hours.

Tortour has become an “ultra-classic”, attracting more than 500 participants every year. The event has become an important step on the road to RAAM. Since inception 5 Tortour winners have won Solo RAAM – 3 women (Nicole Reist, Trix Zgraggen and Isabelle Pulver – all Swiss) and 3 men (Dani Wyss and Reto Schoch, both Swiss, and Slovenian Jure Robic).

D+ Ultracycling Dolomitica (Sarmede, Italy) - July 11, 2025

The 12th edition of D+ Ultracycling Dolomitica will take place July 11. Racers will start and finish in the Piazza del Popolo, Vittorio Veneto, Italy, a small town located at the foot of the Dolomites, roughly an hour’s drive north of Venice. Participants will be treated to absolutely spectacular mountain scenery. There are 3 distances: 180km, 380km and 714km, the 714km distance being the RAAM Qualifier.

The race was the brainchild of Roberto Pico. The race is dedicated to the memory of local cycling legend, Vito Favero. Racing as a professional from 1956 to 1962, he recorded a number of wins, including stages in the Giro d’Italia and a 2nd place finish in the 1958 Tour de France.

At 714km with 19,220mt elevation gain Dolomitica has the most climbing of any RAAM Qualifier. This year racers must climb 22 mountain passes.

Dolomitica finishers have gone on to post Solo RAAM finishes. After winning the inaugural Dolomitica in 2014, Ralph Diseviscourt (LUX), recorded two Solo RAAM finishes - 2016 and 2018. Many Solo RAAM finishers have subsequently raced Dolomitica, including Edward Fuchs (AUT), Martin Bergmeister (ITA), Valerio Zamboni (ITA/MON), Hansi Nyfeler (SUI), Dani Genovesi (BRA) and Angela Perin (ITA).

Dolomitica is open to Solo racers as well as 2 and 4-person teams. If you are looking for a challenging course with spectacular mountain scenery, this is the event.

RTTC National 24-Hour Challenge (Frandon, UK) – July 26, 2025

We are pleased to announce the RTTC (Road Time Trials Council) National 24-Hour Championships will again be a RAAM Qualifying event.  In 1922 a group of clubs formed the Road Racing Council (the Council). In 1937 they organized the Road Time Trials Council (RTTC) with the purpose of establishing standards for time trials, admitting non-member clubs and promoting the sport. In 2002 the Council and RTTC reached an agreement to continue the long standing aims, standards and integrity of the Council. There are over 3,000 events in England, Scotland and Wales, among them, the RTTC National 24 hour Championship … the RAAM Qualifier.

The event takes place in the Northwest of England. Race headquarters will be at the Farndon Community Club, in the village of Farndon, Cheshire, approximately 50km S of Liverpool. The course is 196 km with 1,452.5 meters of elevation gain.  The race field is limited to 120 participants. So, register early!

2025 Joe Barr 500 Cancelled   We received the following statement from Joe Barr’s partner, Jillian Mooney:

"The decision to cancel The Joe Barr 500 in 2025 wasn't an easy one. We started off with a 200 and a 500-mile race in 2018, and we've run an event every year, even through the pandemic years. Numerous people have qualified for RAAM during those years. We crewed for one of them in 2024.

It's no secret that it takes an immense amount of work, behind the scenes, to host a well-organized race. We do it for many reasons, but mostly for the stories that unfold as the race progresses and the look on each rider's face when they cross the line. Being part of personal success, the fulfillment of ambition as well as the disappointment, which happens to us all at times, keeps us connected to the sport, and builds community.

A number of things have collided in our lives this year, and while we want to be able to do it all, we've had to prioritize our time and effort. Will we bring The Joe Barr 500 back? We're considering options and we'll be the first to step back into that arena when the time and space allow."

Sad news. But, we’re encouraged - Joe and Jillian will remain active in the ultra-racing community.
