After 10 years of dedicated service, Sonia Bustamante will step down as my Chief of Staff effective December 31 for a new and exciting leadership opportunity to help our immigrant community!

I appreciate the impact Sonia has had on improving the lives of Contra Costans. Her leadership, vision, and commitment to community have been instrumental in advancing our shared goals of equity, inclusion, and innovation. I am deeply grateful for the countless contributions she has made to our community. She helped lead our efforts to form an Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice, and to establish programs to provide immigrant healthcare (Contra Costa Cares) and protect immigrants at risk of deportation (Stand Together Contra Costa).

I am pleased to announce that Robert Rogers, who has worked in our office for 10 years, will be stepping into the role of Chief of Staff. Robert brings extensive experience, strong relationships, and a deep passion for public service. I am confident he will continue to lead our team with integrity and purpose.

I'm also excited to share that Sonia will begin a new chapter as Director of the SAFE Center / Centro SAFE, part of the Immigrant Action Network. The SAFE Center, with $5 million in seed funding by the County, will serve as a network to connect direct service providers to our hard working immigrant families.

This transition is not an ending, but an opportunity to strengthen our partnerships. The SAFE Center’s mission aligns closely with our shared goals, and I look forward to continued collaboration in service of our community.

Aprecio enormemente el impacto que Sonia ha tenido en la mejora de la vida de los habitantes de Contra Costa.
