LITURGICAL MINISTRY TRAINING
Sunday, August 25 | 12:00p–1:30p, Windsor, nave
On any given Sunday, we have nearly 50 liturgical ministers who serve as acolytes, Eucharistic ministers, lectors and intercessors, ushers, vergers, and Altar Guild. These ministries allow our church to offer beautiful and meaningful worship and are a wonderful way for these ministers to draw closer to God in worship and grow in their faith. Is God calling you to explore one of these ministries? If you are curious to learn more about this, sign up to serve by clicking here. With questions, please contact the Rev. Brin Bon.

EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY (EfM) PROGRAM:
New Fall Class Forming
Begins Thursday, September 5 | 6:30p–9:00p
Windsor, vestry room
Interested in exploring the history and fundamentals of Christianity and nurturing your faith? If so, consider joining Good Shepherd’s Education for Ministry group. EfM is perhaps the best course of study in Christian basics. The development of adult discipleship and an informed and reflective laity lies at the heart of EfM’s thought-provoking curriculum which models the core study areas of a seminary education: The Hebrew Bible; The New Testament; the history of Christianity, and theology and ethics. Good Shepherd’s mentored group weaves those studies into theological conversations informed by participants’ experience of the world. Good Shepherd’s EfM group meets weekly on Thursday evenings at the Windsor campus. The 2024-2025 class is forming now with a start date of September 5. Commitment is for one year. For more information, please contact mentors Bill Davies or Susan Harris.

BEWARE OF SCAM EMAILS AND TEXTS
Recently there has been an uptick in scam emails/texts sent to our staff and parishioners. These emails and texts typically purport to be from a member of the clergy. These are recognizable by multiple factors, including misspelling and requests for favors. As a general rule, if it looks, sounds, feels strange, or if it asks for money or gift cards, delete the message and move on. We will never ask you to buy gift cards or anything of the sort. If you’re not sure, call the church and we’ll help. For more information click HERE.

TRACES OF THE TRADE
Monday, August 26 | 6:00p–9:00p, offsite
St. Matthew’s (8134 Mesa Drive) will host a screening of “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North.” This film recounts one New England family’s involvement in the slave trade in the 18th and 19th centuries, where Northern businesses and communities condoned and benefited from slave trading. Their story illustrates how racism operates in ways people do not consciously recognize. The screening will include dinner and a facilitated discussion of the film by Dain and Constance Perry, members of the New England family. This event is sponsored by the Episcopal Health Foundation (EHF), being grounded in Christian beliefs that call for equity in its mission to promote health and well-being among the 15 million Texans in 80 counties.
