Network Updates
PoLNET3

Funding for our normal Physics of Life and Physics of Medicine network activities including: workshops, bursaries, sandpits, sponsorships and ECR Winter/Summer schools has now ended (February 2024).

We are extremely grateful to UKRI (EPSRC, BBSRC and MRC), Wellcome and The Rosetrees Trust for supporting network activities.

Since 2020, we have used their funding to support and deliver:
Massive thanks you are owed to our late colleague, friend and former PoLNET3 PI Tom McLeish FRS, PoLNET3 co-I Martin Cann, current PoLNET3 PI Mark Leake and Physics of Medicine PI Steve Smye. Without their hard work and dedication to obtain funding, these activities would not have been possible.

We'd also like to say a massive thank you to our amazing Physics of Life and Physics of Medicine steering groups, who have provided an unwavering commitment to review and advise on many of the activities we have supported.

Finally, we'd like to say a massive thank you to the community for your engagement and enthusiasm for bringing us your brilliant ideas.

What Next?

We are delighted to have received additional funding from UKRI (EPSRC, BBSRC, MRC) and Wellcome until March 2025, to deliver a Physics of Life Roadmap and the Physics of Life PoL PDRA call. The community will hear more about both of these in our next newsletter. This will mean you may see a shift in what we're up to.

We will continue to send mailing alerts to keep the community informed and updated with PoLNET activity, especially linked to the roadmap, and other related activities of interest.

The PoLNET forum (polnet-forum-group@york.ac.uk) is still open for community members to post their job opportunities, events and general activities of interest. If you'd like to join the forum, please email Mark Leake (mark.leake@york.ac.uk).

We are once again delighted to be working alongside the Biological Physics Group of the IOP, the British Biophysical Society (BBS), the Physics of Living Systems network and Physics Meets Biology to support the return of 'Physics of Life Harrogate, 2025'. The date for this is set for March 24-27, 2025, so please place this into your diaries.

For 2025, we hope to be able to secure new funding for a PoLNET4 which will enable members to apply for the types of activities we usually support.
