A Message From Rev. Dr. Michael Smith | |
Hello Church Family,
Our church family has many great missions to serve others. Through these missions we are following Jesus, sharing God’s love, one relationship at a time.
Our once-a-month Food Pantry served 1,456 individuals in 2023, and so far through May of this year, we have served 1,214. In addition to many volunteers from our own church, the Scouts assist, and we have others from the larger community to love others with smiles and food.
Our Lake Cable after-school program, which shares Jesus with 1st -5th graders, just completed their second year. These children are like sponges who soak up God’s Word and enjoy the activities which are provided for this 1-½ hour weekly program.
Our J-Team missionaries continue to travel to Jamaica to build houses and provide medical care to adults and children in different communities with prayers, doctor visits and prescription medication. On this last trip they had 597 people attend the clinic and dispensed approximately 1,600 prescriptions. This ministry has been active for 23 years through JKPC.
Our final mission which rounds out our big four is the Total Living Center which is located within blocks of Aultman Hospital. Our church continues to send volunteers to serve food, provide basic need supplies, and love on the people who reside in this community.
We are on the move loving others here at JKPC. Keep those prayers coming!
Jesus is Enough,
Pastor Mike

Worship on the Lord's Day
W-3.0103: The Order of Worship
An order of worship offers a meaningful and reliable structure for the church’s encounter with the living God. Over time, an order of worship helps to shape our faith and faithfulness as the people of God, becoming a pattern for how we live as Christians in the world.
The order of worship offered here for the Service for the Lord’s Day is rooted in Scrip- ture, the traditions of the universal Church, and our Reformed heritage. In particular, it seeks to uphold the centrality of Word and Sacraments in the Church’s faith, life, and wor- ship. This description of the Service for the Lord’s Day is presented as one commendable model, but is not intended to exclude other ways of ordering worship. Other patterns may be appropriate in the context of a particular congregation or culture, provided that they are faithful to the Word, open to the Spirit, and dedicated to the glory of God.

CANTON CONNECTION
CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF GREATER CANTON
SERVING CARROLL, COSHOCTON, HARRISON, HOLMS, STARK, TUSCARAWAS AND WAYNE COUNTIES
The CEF Fundraising Banquet was held May 17, 2024, at the Hartville Kitchen. Their theme this year is ONBOARD with JESUS……”TRAIN up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will DEPART from it.” Proverbs 22:6.
Our purpose behind the fundraising is to raise funds for new Good News Clubs to be launched. It is a process to begin a club. CEF staff must research the target area, look for churches, connect with pastors, recruit a team to lead the club, meet with school staff, train the team and more. All takes time and money. The average club in our chapter lasts more than 5 years, some lasting more than 20 years. Each club averages 25 children. The cost to launch a club is $2500, which is $100 for one child to attend for one year. Most clubs run 14 weeks of the year. It is less than $8 per week for one child to hear the Gospel. When a club runs 5 years, the Gospel is presented more than 70 times. After the initial cost to launch a GNC, the expenses to keep the club running, and the CEF staff continues to provide enrichment training, mentorship, and support for the church partnership.
The event was blessed with 247 guests (15 of those guests were from JKPC) and while we don’t know the financial outcome yet we are counting the event as a success! Prayer was and always is that we see many children accept Jesus into their hearts through the Good News Clubs.
Duane Houser was the coordinator for the Table Sponsorships and he reports that we were very successful in meeting our goal of getting sponsors for 33 tables! It was a great evening blessed with wonderful volunteers, generous guests, talented speakers and musicians, and delicious food!
