Stephanie Tumbleston presented the minutes from the December 2022 board meeting. The board approved the minutes.
Michelle Bussiere provided the financial data for 2023. For last year Michelle reported that the operational budget was $2,423 or 3.7% under budget. The Reserve Fund budget was $10,200 over budget. This was primarily due to the ramada roof and fascia board repair expense.
As you know, Saturday, February 11, 2023, marks the date for the annual meeting. The meeting will start at 11 A.M. in the ramada. Coffee and morning snacks will begin at 10 A.M. For those who have not voted, ballots are provided at the meeting but must be turned in no later than 10:45 A.M. We will have a check-in area where you can sign in, vote, and deposit your checks for your annual dues. The annual meeting is very important as the board presents 2022 results and outlines plans for 2023. And yes, time is provided for any questions or concerns you may want to present. We will have a discussion regarding social events and a survey asking for your input. This is a great platform for meeting other residents, welcoming new residents, and receiving association financial information. This year Lynn Stilger and myself will depart from the board. We are receiving your ballots, but if you have yet to vote, please take the time to vote for two candidates. The second vote needed is the By-Laws change regarding a resident serving on the board who must live in VM III for nine months each year. The months must coincide with the board meeting schedule, September thru May. You may vote online or drop your ballot in the mailbox at 7702 E. Highland Ave.
Please mark Saturday, February 11th, on your calendar.
You may have noticed that the entrance roundabout curb was painted. In the last week, we have seen that new tire marks have appeared. It appears that the lawn care truck is getting too close. I am meeting with Unit 2 on February 18th and will address this issue. Further, I will ask that the front island also is painted.
We have a committee opening for the Home Maintenance Chairperson, as Helen Dowell will resign from this position. For the last three years, Helen Dowell has worked to ensure our community always looks its best. Helen did an outstanding job talking to residents about weeds, lamp post bulbs, and general front yard home maintenance. I want to personally thank Helen, as she and I have worked together for many years, making my job much easier.
Please let any board member know if you are interested, as this is a very important role.
As most of you know, we started electronic communication three years ago, which we termed “The Blast.” This change was a significant undertaking relating to a major change in the method we communicated with residents. Thru the hard work of Penelope Meyers, this change probably seemed seamless to most residents. However, I can say that without Penelope’s work, dedication, and determination, this change may not have been possible. Several weeks ago, I received a call from Penelope stating that she planned to make this her last year serving as Communication Chairperson. Penelope has done an excellent job and will be truly missed. The board members and I want to thank Penelope for all she has done and for the attention to detail in her work.
I am pleased to announce that Diane Botica will assume the Communication Chairperson's responsibilities. Diane has the computer, writing, and creative skills that are well-suited to fulfill this role. Diane has served on HOA boards, so she understands the ins and outs of board work. Penelope and Diane will work together on the transition, which will be completed before the annual meeting.
Lynn Stilger's board term will expire in February. Lynn has served on the board for six years and the last three as Vice President. We all want to thank Lynn for all the work and direction he has provided to the board and our community.
The meeting adjourned.
The next board meeting will follow the annual meeting on February 11, 2023.
Jerry Wortham
President, VM III
