Friend, I am writing this from West Texas after a full day of holding and playing with my grandson. Three weeks ago Franz, Ming and their son Lulu began a life changing journey in Amarillo, TX which just ended on Sunday in Memphis, TN. For three weeks their days were full of meetings with people who had been praying for them, giving to support them and now were able to know them personally. Here is what happened. What Happened It's hard to put into words the amount of information they took in over the last three weeks, but that's actually not the most important thing that happened. They experienced the grace of God through you. It happened in Amarillo, Dallas, Temple and Round Rock, and then again in Tarrytown, Fremont and Memphis. In every church we visited, the same thing: God's grace with skin on it. Why did we do this? There were many reasons, some we clearly know and some we have yet to fully comprehend. But one important reason is this: Planting a church in Taiwan is hard. Harder than you would expect - and we wanted Franz and Ming to know they were not alone. Thank You Amarillo - Trinity Baptist Dallas - Northway Temple - First Baptist Round Rock - Central Baptist Four events in four days.
Then on to Tarrytown, NY - New Hope, Tarrytown Fremont, NE - First E-Free Memphis - Living Hope What happens now Franz and Ming are back home in Taichung. This year is coaching and training. Next year we place them in a neighborhood. It is slow on purpose - we want to give Franz the time and resources he needs to be the right person no matter what lies ahead. Crista and I are traveling until the middle of September, then back in Texas, and I'll be home to Taiwan on October 3rd, just in time for our October university outreach teams. Please Pray With Us - For Franz and Ming as they settle back into Taichung and start the coaching year
- For the people in every church we visited who met them, that praying for Taiwan now has a face on it
- For Andy and Elaine as they move toward joining us
- For the October outreach teams and the students they will meet
- For Crista and me on the road until 3 October
Thank you for being a part of the Mission Taiwan team. Todd & Crista Blackhurst Mission Taiwan P.S. Next week I will send you a short video about Taiwanese Folk Religion I filmed at the BaiShaTun Mazu pilgrimage. If you want to understand what Franz is planting a church into, it is seven minutes well spent.
