The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will host a public information meeting to share plans for improvements to State Road (SR) 39 in Martinsville from Rogers Road north to the White River Bridge. The meeting will be on Monday, May 13 at the South Central Indiana REMC, 300 Morton Avenue, Martinsville. Doors will open at 6 p.m. when visitors can view displays and talk to project representatives prior to a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.
The proposed improvements to SR 39 include full depth shoulder widening, pavement mill and overlay, and pavement patching along SR 39 and Hacker Drive. A new 54-inch storm sewer pipe will be installed along Hacker Drive and a new enclosed storm sewer system will be installed along SR 39. Curb ramps, concrete sidewalks and detectable warning surfaces will be installed at a variety of locations.
New temporary pavement markings will be placed throughout the project limits to provide additional turn lanes and accommodate increased traffic during I-69 Section 6 construction. Once I-69 Section 6 construction is complete, SR 39 will revert to its previous traffic patterns.
The project’s environmental document and preliminary design plans will be available to view online after the meeting. Comments about the proposed improvements will be accepted at the May 13 meeting in writing via a comment form or verbally via a court reporter.
Written comments can also be submitted after the meeting to the INDOT Seymour District, Attn: Travis Mankin, 185 Agrico Lane, Seymour, IN 47274. Comments will be accepted through June 1, 2019.
