As a result of the COVID19 pandemic, businesses all over the country are strained beyond their financial tolerance. In response, the government created a number of programs to aid business and enable them to remain operational. These programs, like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) exempted certain 501c entities. NJBA and the 4 local associations throughout NJ are organized under the 501c6 designation and as such have been ineligible for this assistance.
Our national Association (NAHB) has been lobbying to encourage legislation that will allow 501c6 organizations to be included in the small businesses that are eligible for this assistance.
I am turning to you, as a member of either NJBA or one of the local association boards, to ask that you join in this effort. NAHB has created a campaign (below) to encourage congress members to support this legislation. Please click the link below (“Keep Home Builder Associations Working or “Reach out today”) to participate in this campaign.
Congress is discussing bipartisan legislation to ensure the trade associations which serve our industry are eligible for PPP loans so they can continue to provide critical resources and support to you – the small businesses and home building firms that are on the front lines working to provide sorely needed housing for Americans during this critical time.
Reach out today
and ask your member of Congress to support legislation that would allow 501(c)(6) organizations like HBAs to be eligible for PPP loans.
Thank you and if you
have any questions please feel free to reach out to

at NJBA.
