A Message from the Headmaster
Dear Archway Trivium families,
Some weeks back, I shared that we would no longer be holding our Snowstorm campaign to provide each staff member with a holiday gift. To refresh, the reasons were largely legalities around pay and tax laws. All of those come into play when your financial contributions are channeled through the school. However, families are always permitted to give gifts directly to their teachers. This is my invitation and request. As you are shopping this month, please consider your child’s teachers. If every student brings his or her classroom teachers $5 and specials teachers $1 then those teachers will receive double the bonus they were able to receive under the Snowstorm model. Every year, we have families who wish to do a little bit more. To you, I would invite you to include our front office staff and our Exceptional Student Services team. These dedicated women and men either do not have individual classrooms or they work with a very small number of students.
There is an added benefit to this model that I particularly enjoy. By moving from indirect gift giving to direct gift giving, the children will have the opportunity to experience expressing gratitude by giving a gift directly to their teachers. This could be a beautiful moment of connection of far greater value than any monetary or tangible item. In my office I have the school bell of a great grandfather, David Roland Scott, from his time teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Missouri in 1869. Without over-romanticizing that period in history, there was a culture of gift giving that is, perhaps, quaint but also highly connective. It is different now. I am sure that none of our teachers would object if offered an apple pie, loaf of bread, or hand-knitted sweater, but we live in an age of gift cards and other modern accoutrements. If you would like to do something more personal and non-financial, please consult the faculty favorites list to select a gift of special importance.
Thank you all for selecting Archway Trivium. It is an amazing place because of the amazing people, especially our families. It truly is a joy to work with you children day in and day out. I wish you all the happiest and most connective moments during this holiday season!
Heartily Devoted,
Clay Scott, Ed.D.

School Messenger Communication
Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.
Email Communications
If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.
You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
