Peace to you,
This past month, Holden Village has welcomed many people to experience the winter beauty of the wilderness!
The annual Women’s Retreat offered a weekend of renewal and community focused on the power of stories through song writing, yoga, meditation, and more. Presidents Day weekend was bustling with people eager to spend time outdoors. Villagers have been taking cross-country skiing lessons, enjoying snowshoeing on trails in the valley, and sledding down Chalet Hill!
Students and families from the Holden School had a unique opportunity to go on a field trip out of the Village to ride on dog sleds. Winter has also been a cozy time to enjoy thought-provoking films and discussion during the Holden Village Film Festival last week.
Over 30 communities joined in vespers services for “Holden Evening Prayer Around the World” on February 5th. Throughout the month of February, the community has been commemorating Black History Month through readings and discussion in daily worship. This conversation has brought us into some uncomfortable spaces where we've had to acknowledge our gaps and look at the work that lies ahead. Holden is on a journey to learn about allyship and enter into the hard work necessary to dismantle white supremacy and combat racism. We invite you to journey alongside us as we try and grow to be better allies.
We hope you enjoy these stories and images from the past month at Holden!

ANNOUNCING THE 2020 SUMMER CONVERSATION–ALL THINGS NEW
"I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." –Isaiah 43:19
There are many invitations afforded us in times such as these. They are bold and obvious invitations to
listen, to
engage, to
be open, to
love, and to remind ourselves that we don't own the answers. During the Summer Conversation in 2020, Holden's visiting faculty will focus on the concept of making All Things New. It is a conversation worth joining.

BLESSING
[...] Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And into your sister's eyes, into
Your brother's face, your country
And say simply
Very simply
With hope
Good morning.
