2025 was a transformative year as MHO undertook one of the most ambitious housing development efforts in our history. Working together, we are building the foundation for a stronger, more resilient future in western North Carolina. Building or preserving an affordable home is just the beginning. Real transformation happens when people can stay in their homes and communities, healthy, stable, and thriving. Last year, we proudly supported over 2,000 households and launched a new Resident Services initiative to provide deeper support for residents. The need for affordable housing in western North Carolina has never been greater. To meet this need, MHO is developing 600 new apartments and 120 new homes across Buncombe and Haywood Counties. Click through the link below to learn more about future developments!

In January, Todd Puhl joined MHO's Asset Management team as an Asset Manager! With more than 25 years of experience in affordable housing, Todd brings deep expertise in property management to the organization. In his role, Todd will help ensure MHO continues to provide high-quality, affordable housing throughout the region. Welcome, Todd!

MHO is thankful to everyone who helped make the Free Food Market at Compton Place Apartments on December 17 such a success, including Partnership Property Management (PPM) and ABCCM for their support in making the event possible! The quantity of food and the wide variety of fresh, healthy options exceeded expectations, allowing us to fully stock Compton’s kitchen pantry for residents to enjoy throughout the holiday season. Thank you again to everyone who contributed to making this community event a success!

MHO was recently awarded a Local Community Impact Grant for $8,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation to support the Essential Home Repair program! We are honored to collaborate with dedicated organizations that share our commitment to affordable housing and home repair. These funds will directly fuel our repair efforts across Buncombe County, helping people live better for longer in their own homes. Thank you, Duke Energy Foundation!
