Daughters of Neptune are Looking for the 2025 Court

We are looking for girls who would like to join the Daughters of Neptune Program for 2025. You need to be between the ages of 14 to 17 while serving as a Daughter of Neptune. It can be a daughter, Granddaughter or any girl wishing to help promote Life Jacket Awareness, and Water Safety. Clubs that would like to sponsor a Daughter but don't have one can contact Alicia Robinson for details. We are also always looking for Adult Chaperones to help run the program.

If you can help, please contact Alicia at Alicia@CRYA.us.

Can You Help to Get Beacon Rock Docks Reopened?

A workgroup is forming in CRYA to work with members of PYC to help get the effort to repair the docks at Beacon Rock. The repairs have been bogged down in the permitting process we are told, but it appears to go beyond that. Can you help? There is a lawyer on the PYC team that is helping in the effort as well so we will have good legal advice along the way. It would be great to get this destination back as one of our favorite and premier boating facilities.

To help, contact beaconrockdocks@crya.us.

Past President Ron Bergmann passes the Gavel to the 2025 President Bernie Bacon.

We all had a great time at the 2024 Annual Dinner held at the Spaghetti Factory in Portland. Bernie is a member of the NOTS boating club and brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. Tracy Robinson accepted the VP nod and is representing Columbia River YC. We also had Ken Williams accept another term as one of our standing committee members. We all look forward to another great year of boating as well as finding ways to improve the boating access and facilities for all. Please join us in welcoming all the incoming officers as well as all the volunteers that help to promote boating.

The Department of State Lands Proposes Substantial Rate Increase

Today DSL held their 2nd citizen advisory meeting to increase their rates on submerged lands and on fees associated with functions of the DSL. There will be at least 4 more citizen advisory meetings before it goes out for public comment and public hearings and eventually end up at the State Land Board to approve the final version. They want to change how they calculate your rate based on the value of the upland property and the square footage of the water. For many this increase may run 50% to 100% more. The good news (if you can call it that is that there is a 150%cap) It will not start until you renew your lease but they also want to make leases 5 years so they can add more fees more often. To really get deep, it's all online at www.oregon.gov/dsl/pages/rulemaking.aspx

More to come as WOOO follows this.

TYEE Yacht Club Shares their monthly Newsletter - The Tattler

Last month we had the NOTS Boating Club share information about their club and why you might want to join them on a cruise. This month TYEE YC has shared their monthly newsletter for December. You can read that Newsletter HERE

Success! Vessels Removed from OUR Waterways.

Thanks to our CRYA Treasurer Doug Vandecoevering for grabbing this picture of some of the Abandoned and Derelict Vessels that have been removed recently. This was part of CRYA's efforts a year ago to get the bills passed to create a fund for such activity. We can make a difference!

Content in your Club's Newsletters that all Boaters should read?

We can't see every club's internal communication, but we have to think some of the articles would be great information for all boaters. If you find that article of interest, please forward it to cryanews@gmail.com after getting approval to share. We can all be more informed.
