Veterans Day Ceremony & 2020 Budget Release
Thank to Ossining’s Central Committee of Organized War Veterans for gathering us today to honor the men and women who have served. The ceremony was led by Michael G. O'Connor, prayers were offered by Ed Cook, and Steven Felsenfeld led us in singing the National Anthem. It was a beautiful day for the ceremony with a unifying statement from Ossining's own Major General Bob Wolf.

Last week's Village Board meeting included a presentation from Village Manager Karen D'Attore of her proposed 2020 Budget. Click here to view the slide presentation that distills the thousands of line items into charts and highlights that make the budget accessible. The Village Board Budget Meetings have already gotten underway. Here is a link to the full schedule of budget work sessions with anticipated departments to be discussed. Wednesday Meeting
This week's work session has a full agenda. We begin with a presentation from a representative of the New York Civil Liberties Union. We will discuss the 2020 agreement with IFCA who manages the affordable housing applicant qualifications. We will also continue a conversation with Recreation and Parks Superintendent Bill Garrison regarding a Youth Bureau being established in Ossining. Though funding has been included in the 2020 budget, the path forward for the structure of an Ossining Youth Bureau is not yet clear. Click here to view the full meeting agenda .

Work sessions are forums when the Village Board meets with staff and experts to become informed on potential action to be taken, and generally is not open for public comment. However, the public is invited to attend in person or to watch the meeting on television,  the village website , or  YouTube .

With Regards,

Reimagining the Waterfront
Mark your calendar for December 16. That's when this group of Cornell Landscape graduate students will be at the Ossining Library to share their Climate-adaptive Designs for how to address the impact of the rising water level along our coast.

On Friday Supervisor Levenberg, Councilwoman Feldman, Manager D'Attore and I took a trip to Cornell to provide feedback to the students. The graduate students' designs are fascinating, creative, and sometimes unnerving. The 12/16 presentations will be video taped. We encourage anyone who appreciates the Ossining waterfront as a place to enjoy the sunset, walk a dog, raise a glass, own a business, dock a boat, take a train or call home to explore these designs that reimagine our coast with rising sea levels.
